About this role

Our client, a well established Lloyd’s market insurer, is looking for a qualified accountant to join their finance team and take the lead on technical reporting for their Lloyd’s business. Sitting at the centre of the quarterly close, you will own the end to end cycle, from loading data into the close model and running the accounting processes, to working through results with the Actuarial team and seeing submissions through to sign off.

Alongside core reporting, this role carries a genuine improvement remit. You will play a key part in shaping how the finance function operates, supporting and leading projects that streamline reporting processes and modernise the systems behind them. It suits someone who enjoys both delivering a robust close and finding ways to make it better.

Key Responsibilities:

- Run the quarterly technical close across IFRS 17, IFRS 4 and UK GAAP, acting as the go to owner for the process
- Produce the quarterly IFRS 17 and IFRS 4 technical result for the Lloyd’s entity
- Prepare closing packs for Group Reporting, ensuring figures are accurate, timely and compliant with IFRS and local requirements
- Interrogate movements in IFRS 17 balances and clearly articulate what is driving financial performance
- Partner with the Actuarial function during the close, challenging outputs and resolving queries
- Drive and contribute to process, control and system enhancements across financial reporting
- Support the external audit cycle and help draft technical accounting papers
- Contribute flexibly to wider team priorities as the business requires

Requirements

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- 3 to 5+ years’ experience in insurance, ideally within the Lloyd’s or London Market
- Practical, hands on IFRS 17 experience, supported by a working knowledge of IFRS 4 and UK GAAP
- A track record of delivering quarterly close and technical result reporting
- Comfortable engaging with actuaries and translating complex insurance numbers into clear commentary
- Exposure to external audit and technical accounting documentation
- Interest in improving processes and experience supporting finance change or system projects
- Well organised, detail focused and able to perform under tight reporting deadlines

Benefits

Length: Initial 12 months, with an option to extend to 18 months
