Legal Counsel, Region Americas

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid working model requiring a minimum of four days per week in the Atlanta office and the option to work remotely one day per week.

What You'll Do at Elekta

As Legal Counsel for Region Americas, you will play an important role in providing practical, business-focused legal support across a broad range of commercial and operational matters. This position is designed as a foundational in-house counsel role, offering the opportunity to develop within a global legal function while working alongside experienced legal professionals in the medical device industry.

You will partner closely with business stakeholders and colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Sales, Procurement, and other functions to provide risk-based legal guidance that supports Elekta's business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Responsibilities

- Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of business matters, including commercial, corporate, procurement, and operational issues.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of agreements, including hardware sales, software licensing, professional services, development, vendor, and procurement contracts.
- Identify, assess, and communicate legal and business risks while helping stakeholders develop practical and commercially sound solutions.
- Partner closely with business teams to support strategic initiatives and day-to-day commercial activities.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, Intellectual Property, and other specialist functions to deliver comprehensive legal support.
- Support the management of customer disputes, claims, escalations, pre-litigation matters, and litigation, engaging external counsel when appropriate.
- Review marketing initiatives and related materials for legal and compliance considerations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve legal templates, processes, policies, and best practices.
- Deliver legal training and guidance to business stakeholders across the organization.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and special projects within the Legal Department.
- Work collaboratively with a high-performing international legal team to support business objectives across the Region Americas.
- Demonstrate Elekta's values, ethics, and quality standards in all aspects of work.
- Perform additional duties and projects assigned.

What You'll Bring

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Active membership and good standing with a state bar association.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience gained in a leading law firm, corporate legal department, or a combination of both.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracting, corporate law, business transactions, and general commercial legal matters.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across all levels of an organization.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Litigation experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience within the medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare or medical device regulations, including FDA and other applicable regulatory frameworks, is advantageous.
