We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Repairs and Maintenance teams as a Carpenter.
The role:
As a Carpenter/UPVC Fitter, you will be part of the Housing Building Maintenance team, carrying out a wide range of carpentry repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment works to Council homes. The role includes repairing and replacing UPVC components such as windows and locks, delivering high-quality workmanship, providing excellent customer service to tenants, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. You will also participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota and play a key role in maintaining and improving Council housing stock
What you will need:
- Fully skilled Carpenter with proven experience in carrying out a wide range of carpentry repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works.
- Additional trade skills, including plastering and experience in other maintenance trades, to support a multi-skilled approach to repairs and maintenance work.
- Knowledge and experience of repairing and replacing UPVC components.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently, manage workloads effectively and use own initiative to resolve maintenance issues.
- NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry (or equivalent qualification) or recent relevant experience.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, tenants, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
- Prepared to undertake annual health surveillance checks and, where required, be clean shaven to enable the use of respiratory protective equipment (RPE)
