JUNIOR EDITOR
Editorial Department
Reports to: Editorial Supervisor
Job Summary
The Junior Editor supports the editorial team in producing accurate, consistent materials across print and digital channels. Working under the guidance of more experienced editors, this person will proofread copy, check revisions, assist with fact checks, and review materials against brand style guides. Projects may include websites, interactive visual aids, emails, microsites, print ads, brochures, direct mailers, and conference materials. Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
- Proofreads materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, and consistency
- Checks revisions against previous versions to confirm that requested changes have been made accurately
- Assists with word-for-word reviews and fact checks under the guidance of senior editors
- Applies brand style guides and flags inconsistencies or questions for the assigned editor
- Supports editors across brand teams during busy periods
- Learns and follows the department’s editorial and electronic routing processes
Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)
- Strong proofreading skills and close attention to detail
- Interest in healthcare advertising and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Foundational knowledge of AMA style or a willingness to learn it
- Ability to take feedback, ask questions, and manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Familiarity with electronic routing systems is a plus
- BA in English, Communications, or a related field, or a BS in a life sciences field such as biology or chemistry; relevant experience will also be considered
- Prior internship or professional experience in editing, healthcare advertising, publishing, or medical communications is a plus
