Global Financial Crimes Compliance Risk Assessment Vice President

Job Summary

This position plays a key role in the administration and continuous enhancement of the Global Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) Risk Assessment Program within the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD). Reporting to the GFCD Risk Assessment Lead, the Vice President partners with stakeholders across business lines, legal entities, and jurisdictions to execute MUFG's enterprise-wide FCC risk assessments, deliver meaningful risk insights, and promote consistent application of FCC risk management practices globally.

The role requires strong analytical capabilities, sound risk judgment, and expertise in FCC risk assessment methodologies, particularly as applied in the United States. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to FCC leadership and subject matter experts, supporting informed decision-making through robust risk analysis and effective challenge.

Key Responsibilities

- Supporting the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of MUFG's global annual FCC risk assessment program, ensuring timely delivery, consistency, and adherence to established governance standards;
- Coordinating with business and compliance stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions to facilitate the collection, validation, and assessment of FCC risk information, including AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and other FCC-related risk domains;
- Maintaining and continuously improving the FCC risk assessment methodology, procedures, and supporting documentation, including questionnaires, risk rating and scoring tools, and reporting templates, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices;
- Performing qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to identify emerging risks, trends, concentrations, and control gaps, translating findings into clear, actionable insights for senior management and FCC stakeholders;
- Providing effective challenge and advisory support to FCC subject matter experts and business partners regarding risk assessment outcomes, risk ratings, and mitigation strategies;
- Developing and delivering meaningful management reporting and risk assessment presentations to inform strategic decision-making and enhance transparency of the enterprise FCC risk profile;
- Administering FCC risk assessments in the Americas region, including across the entities comprising MUFG’s combined U.S. operations;
- Supporting examinations, audits, and regulatory inquiries by articulating FCC risk assessment processes, methodologies, results, and governance practices to Internal Audit, regulators, and other oversight functions;
- Partnering with global stakeholders to drive consistency in risk assessment execution across business lines, legal entities, and regions while accommodating jurisdiction-specific regulatory requirements;
- Monitoring regulatory developments, industry trends, and emerging FCC risks to identify opportunities for strengthening the FCC risk assessment framework and related governance practices;
- Contributing to ongoing program enhancements through process optimization, data analytics, automation initiatives, and the implementation of leading risk management practices; and
- Fostering a culture of risk awareness, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement, promoting strong risk management discipline across the organization.

Work Experience

- Extensive experience (at a minimum 8-10 years) in compliance risk management, audit, or other relevant areas within a global financial institution;
- Proven track record in executing enterprise-wide risk assessments;
- Extensive experience in regulatory frameworks and expectations and industry best practices; and
- Experience in presenting to executive leadership, regulatory bodies, and audit.

Functional Skills

- Expertise in compliance risk frameworks and second line of defense responsibilities as well as knowledge of compliance regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions;
- Extensive background in designing and implementing scalable risk assessment programs;
- Extensive experience with risk aggregation, reporting, and governance committee engagement; and
- Practical knowledge of risk assessment technology platforms and data analytics tools.

- Builds and maintains effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the three lines of defense;

Education

- Degree or equivalent work experience equally preferable

The typical base pay range for this role is between $122K - $166K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
