OVERVIEW
The Corporate Archivist manages day-to-day stewardship of the General Mills Corporate Archives and delivers archival services that support business, brand, communications, research, and employee needs. This role independently manages assigned collection workstreams and routine to moderately complex research and access requests.

The General Mills Corporate Archives serves as a secure repository for historically significant, non-current records documenting the founding, development, organization, management, and achievements of General Mills, its brands and subsidiaries. The collection supports the mission, priorities, and achievements of General Mills, its brands, and its employees.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Plan and prioritize assigned collection workstreams and carry out archival processing, preservation, digitization, and backlog-reduction work using established archival methods.
- Appraise materials for archival relevance and recommend additions, transfers, or deaccessions in accordance with approved policies, escalating sensitive or complex decisions as appropriate.
- Accession approved acquisitions into the collection.
- Manage routine and moderately complex research requests by clarifying stakeholder needs, identifying relevant archival materials and resources, and providing accurate responses.
- Process routine external requests, partnering with the Senior Corporate Archivist or appropriate internal partners on complex permissions, copyright, trademark, privacy, licensing, or reputational questions.
- Develop and support presentations and tours for internal stakeholders and other audiences by researching historical content, selecting supporting assets, preparing notes or slides, and reviewing materials for accuracy.
- Support the curation and installation of engaging displays and exhibits by helping develop themes, select and sequence materials, prepare captions or labels, coordinate logistics, and safely install and deinstall archival materials.
- Maintain accurate request, project, acquisition, permissions, and collection records.
- Support outreach that encourages appropriate contributions, donations, and builds awareness of the collection.
- Recommend improvements to archival procedures, documentation, metadata, systems, and user experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MLIS degree or related advanced degree, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Experience with archival collection management systems or digital asset management systems.
- Strong research, organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage priorities, collection workstreams, research requests, and stakeholder projects while escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.
- Basic understanding of legal and ethical considerations relevant to archival work and records management, including copyright, trademark, permissions, confidentiality, privacy, and licensing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow corporate policies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a changing business environment and reprioritize work on short notice.
- Ability to sit, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and maneuver archival boxes or materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to handle fragile, oversized, and varied physical materials safely.
- Ability to support varied archival activities, including occasional events, tours, displays, or stakeholder needs outside normal business hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with digitization and digital preservation.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Lightroom, or comparable tools.
- Experience supporting exhibitions, tours, media requests, corporate history, brand history, or public relations.
- Experience or educational background in visual arts, photography, exhibition design, or a related field.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. General Mills will not sponsor applicants for a U.S. work visa.
- International relocation and international remote working arrangements outside of the U.S. will not be considered.


SALARY RANGE
The salary range for this position is:
$41,200 - $56,800 Annual

The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
