About this role

Job Description

Just imagine creating a new LEGO® element that unlocks entirely new ways for children to build, play and explore. Then make it real.

About the role

As our Element Designer, you'll help shape the future of the LEGO® System in Play through physical product design, functionality and innovation. You'll take ideas from early concepts through to production-ready solutions, creating elements that combine aesthetics, play value and manufacturability. Working closely with design, engineering and manufacturing partners, you'll help develop products that expand building possibilities and create meaningful play experiences.

Required Qualifications

- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related design discipline
- Experience using 3D design software such as Rhino, NX, ZBrush or similar
- Ability to translate ideas and concepts into compelling 3D solutions

- Strong sketching, visualization and storytelling skills
- Strong understanding of form, proportion, scale and product aesthetics
- Passion for creating physical products and play experiences
- Good communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Gained product design experience through professional work, internships or university projects
- Experience with physical prototyping and model making
- Worked with manufacturing methods such as injection moulding or related production processes
- Experience working on innovation-focused projects
- An understanding of play from a child's perspective
- Experience from the toy industry
- Knowledge within the LEGO Technic building system

What you'll build

- Design and develop new LEGO elements from concept through production
- Create moulded elements, mechanisms and functional features that enrich play experiences
- Turn creative concepts and functional requirements into tangible product solutions
- Balance aesthetics, functionality, play value and production requirements throughout development
- Explore opportunities to expand the LEGO System and inspire new building experiences
- Contribute ideas, insights and learnings that strengthen future innovation projects

If you've worked in a role where you transformed concepts into physical products, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is your ability to combine strong design fundamentals with practical product development and a genuine interest in creating engaging play experiences.

Life on the team

You'll join Element Design, a team focused on developing new moulded and textile elements for the LEGO Group. We work closely with engineering, model design and manufacturing teams, sharing ideas and solving challenges together. Curiosity, collaboration, clear communication and a willingness to learn are an important part of how we work. It's a varied environment where you'll often balance multiple projects while contributing to a positive design culture.

What success looks like

Success means creating element designs that deliver both functional value and great play experiences while meeting production requirements in a dynamic environment. Over time, you'll build confidence developing innovative mechanisms, features and building solutions that broaden the possibilities of the LEGO System. You'll work closely with designers, engineers and manufacturing specialists as new opportunities emerge to evolve future LEGO elements and building experiences.

Please submit your CV, motivational letter and portfolio in English. A portfolio is required as part of your application and must either be uploaded directly (maximum upload size per file is 2 MB) or share a link clearly highlighted in the CV.
