Within TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping in Geneva, the Derivatives Middle Office team monitors the performance and market risks of trading portfolios. Working at the interface of Front Office, Finance and risk-control functions, the team analyses positions, valuations and market movements to provide accurate daily reporting and reliable indicators for decision-making. This internship offers hands-on exposure to derivatives, commodity markets and quantitative risk analysis in a fast-moving international trading environment.

Your Responsibilities

- Support daily monitoring of trading positions, portfolio exposures and risk indicators, including Value at Risk (VaR), stress tests and sensitivity analysis.
- Assist with the calculation, control and explanation of daily profit and loss (PnL), including analysis of market movements and other key drivers.
- Help verify the consistency of transaction data, pricing inputs, market curves and mark-to-market valuations against available information.
- Contribute to quantitative analysis and the development, testing and improvement of risk monitoring and reporting tools, working with Middle Office, traders and IT teams.
- Prepare clear analyses and documentation to communicate findings to the team and support reliable reporting.

- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering or another strongly quantitative field.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with an interest in derivatives pricing, financial modelling and stochastic processes.
- Strong Python programming skills and proficiency in Excel; knowledge of SQL and VBA is an advantage.
- Understanding of financial derivatives, such as futures, swaps and options; an interest in commodity and energy markets is valued.
- Rigorous, curious and proactive, with the ability to analyse complex information, communicate clearly and work collaboratively under deadlines.
- Fluent English; French is an advantage.
- A tri-partite agreement is mandatory
