About this role

Supports the cooperative's after-hours operations by receiving outage and emergency information, communicating with members and employees, and dispatching on-call personnel when needed.

This position maintains an in-office presence at the cooperative's headquarters outside normal business hours and serves as an important communication point during outages, emergencies, alarms, and other situations requiring a response.

This role is a good fit for someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate clearly, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-changing environment.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities may include:

- Receive and respond to outage calls, emergency calls, alarms, and other after-hours communications.

- Contact and dispatch on-call employees when outages, system problems, or other situations require a field response.

- Communicate with members to gather adequate information to relay to responding employees.

- Monitor and use outage management, telephone, two-way radio, vehicle location, mapping/GIS, customer information, security, and other operational systems.

- Track outage activity and help maintain accurate information regarding crews, locations, and ongoing events.

- Communicate important information to employees, supervisors, members, and other appropriate parties.

- Coordinate with emergency responders and outside agencies when situations require additional assistance.

- Monitor alarms, security systems, and other notifications and take appropriate action based on established procedures.

- Maintain clear and accurate records of calls, dispatch activity, outages, alarms, and other events.

- Maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and cooperative information.

- Participate in training, meetings, and other activities needed to maintain knowledge of dispatch procedures and cooperative operations.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Candidates should:

- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Be able to remain alert, focused, and professional throughout overnight work.

- Be comfortable handling stressful situations and multiple priorities at the same time.

- Have good judgment and the ability to follow established procedures during outages and emergencies.

- Be comfortable working independently while maintaining effective communication with on-call employees and supervisors.

- Be able to learn and use multiple computer systems, radios, phones, mapping tools, and other dispatch technology.

- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.

- Be dependable and able to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended hours as required.

- Be able to protect confidential employee and member information.

- Be able to communicate effectively with members, employees, emergency responders, and other outside contacts.

At least three years of relevant experience is preferred. Experience in dispatching, utilities, emergency communications, customer service, public safety, transportation, or another fast-paced coordination role may be helpful.

Position Details

This is a full-time position based at the cooperative's headquarters and is performed in-office. The Night Dispatcher helps provide continuous operational support outside normal business hours and plays an important role in outage response, emergency communication, and coordination of field personnel.

The position requires participation in the dispatch on-call rotation and may involve extended hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.

Schedule: Normal working days and hours vary but primarily works outside of the Cooperative's normal business hours.
