Position Summary
The Rebar Project Manager directs reinforcing steel projects from contract award through final delivery and closeout. Serving as the primary contact between customers, detailers, the fabrication shop, and shipping, this role coordinates drawings, material releases, and deliveries while managing project cost, change orders, and documentation to keep projects on time, on budget, and to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Customer Relations
· Manage a portfolio of rebar projects from kickoff through closeout, maintaining schedule, quality, and profitability
· Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, detailers, engineers, the fabrication shop, and the shipping team
· Visit jobsites and the fabrication shop to resolve issues and build strong customer relationships
Drawings, Submittals & Detailing Coordination
· Review project plans and specifications, interpret structural drawings, and communicate design intent and project requirements to the detailing team
· Coordinate placing drawings, submittals, and requests for information (RFIs) with detailers, engineers, and customers to ensure timely approvals
· Review rebar placing drawings and bar lists for quality, accuracy, and conformance with project specifications before submittal or release
Production & Delivery Coordination
· Release approved bar lists to the fabrication shop and coordinate production priorities
· Schedule deliveries in alignment with the customer's pour schedule and coordinate with the shipping team
Cost Control & Commercial Management
· Manage project budgets and materials; track job cost and margin to maintain profitability
· Identify scope changes, and price, submit, and track change orders through approval
· Coordinate with the billing department to support progress billing, documentation, and collections
Documentation & Reporting
· Create, control, and maintain project documents, status reports, and records
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills:
· 3+ years of experience in rebar, structural steel, or concrete construction in project management, project coordination, detailing, estimating, field engineering, or structural design.
· Knowledge of construction project management gained through experience or equivalent education.
· Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, placing drawings, and bar lists; working knowledge of construction methods.
· Familiarity with CRSI and ACI standards.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam (or similar software); accurate document control and data entry.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and shifting priorities.
· Strong critical thinking, reasoning, organization, communication, and time management skills.
· Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
· Rebar detailing or estimating background.
· Experience with aSa, RebarCAD, or Tekla.
· Department of Transportation (DOT) project experience.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish.
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Working Environment:
· The role is primarily office-based, with regular visits to the fabrication shop and customer jobsites.
· Shop and jobsite visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, loud noise, and elevated or uneven work areas.
· Frequent interaction with customers, engineers, detailers, and internal teams in a deadline-driven environment.
· Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas, including safety glasses, hard hat, high-visibility vest, and steel-toe boots.
· Local travel to jobsites is required.
Physical/Mental Requirements
· Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
· Ability to walk uneven surfaces and climb stairs during shop and jobsite visits.
· Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
· Adequate vision, hearing, and speech to review drawings and communicate with customers and teams.
· Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, bar lists, specifications, and schedules.
· Ability to analyze cost, margin, and project data, and apply critical thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
· Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
