The Renewable Products Trader is responsible for developing and executing trading strategies that maximize value across Chevron's renewable fuels portfolio, including renewable diesel and biodiesel. Based in Houston, this role manages commercial positions, identifies asset-backed arbitrage and optimization opportunities, analyzes market and regulatory developments, and collaborates closely with operations, logistics, scheduling, risk management, and optimization teams to capture value while maintaining compliance within established risk frameworks. The position supports Chevron's growing global renewable products business and plays a key role in expanding market access, optimizing supply chains, and driving commercial performance across renewable fuel value chains.

Chevron is seeking a highly motivated Renewable Products Trader to join our Renewable Products team in Houston. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, executing, and optimizing renewable fuels trading opportunities while supporting the commercialization of Chevron's growing renewable products portfolio.
This position will play a key role in maximizing value from renewable diesel, biodiesel, compliance programs, and related renewable products through market analysis, risk management, logistics optimization, and commercial execution. The role requires close collaboration with trading, operations, scheduling, supply, risk, finance, and commercial stakeholders across North America and globally. The position supports a business that spans renewable diesel, biodiesel, marine biofuels, and associated environmental markets across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute renewable products trading strategies to optimize value across physical and financial markets.
- Manage commercial positions in renewable diesel, biodiesel, blendstocks, and related renewable fuel products.
- Identify and capture arbitrage, storage, blending, logistics, and market optimization opportunities.
- Analyze market fundamentals, regulatory developments, supply-demand balances, and pricing trends.
- Manage price exposure through appropriate hedging and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with schedulers, logistics, operations, and commercial teams to ensure effective transaction execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, customers, and industry participants.
- Support development of new markets, products, and commercial opportunities.
- Monitor and comply with relevant regulatory programs, including renewable fuel and low-carbon fuel markets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of trading tools, analytical models, and business processes.
- Maintain strong compliance, governance, and control standards while operating within Chevron's risk management framework.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in commodity trading, supply, optimization, commercial operations, or related energy markets.
- Experience with renewable fuels, refined products, feedstocks, environmental products, or related commodities preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of physical and paper trading activities, logistics, pricing, and risk management.
- Experience developing commercial relationships and negotiating transactions.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience trading renewable diesel, biodiesel or marine biofuels.
- Knowledge of renewable fuel regulations and compliance programs such as RINs, LCFS, carbon markets, and international renewable fuel standards.
- Familiarity with futures, swaps, options, and physical commodity risk management.
- Familiarity with trading systems, market intelligence platforms, and advanced Excel or analytical tools.
- Experience working in asset-backed trading organizations.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and value-creation track record.
