JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish manufacturing processes, production workflows, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions supporting complex products and assemblies.
- Define manufacturing approaches by evaluating production requirements, process capability, equipment utilization, manufacturability, and production efficiency.
- Lead manufacturing process development through engineering analyses, design reviews, process evaluations, and technical assessments.
- Lead complex manufacturing process validation, equipment qualification, first article builds, and production readiness activities.
- Evaluate production performance, manufacturing data, process capability, and engineering risks while directing solutions that improve manufacturing performance.
- Validate manufacturing processes through qualification activities, root cause investigations, engineering changes, and corrective actions.
- Serve as the manufacturing engineering lead by coordinating manufacturing, quality, supply chain, production control, and operations teams supporting product development and production.
- Develop manufacturing documentation, work instructions, engineering reports, process flows, and manufacturing standards supporting engineering decisions.
- Support design reviews, manufacturing reviews, engineering investigations, and new product introduction activities by providing manufacturing engineering guidance.
- Establish manufacturing engineering best practices, process standards, production methods, and configuration management processes across programs.
- Evaluate manufacturing methodologies, production processes, and engineering practices to identify improvements.
- Drive initiatives that enhance manufacturability, quality, productivity, manufacturing efficiency, and production readiness.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, operations management, manufacturing technology, or a related field with 8–12 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 6–8 years of related experience, or PhD with 3–5 years of related experience in manufacturing, production operations, industrial engineering, machining, assembly, process improvement, or a related discipline.
- Technical experience in manufacturing engineering, production processes, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Advanced proficiency developing manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, production workflows, and manufacturing solutions for complex products.
- Comprehensive understanding of process validation, lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, quality systems, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading complex manufacturing engineering initiatives while balancing quality, manufacturability, productivity, cost, and schedule.
- Exercises sound judgment in establishing manufacturing approaches, resolving complex technical issues, and providing technical leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Manufacturing engineering, CAD, and process analysis tools, e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent applications.
- Manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP systems, engineering documentation, and collaboration tools, e.g. Epicor, SAP, Windchill, Jira, or equivalent applications.
