About this role

SUMMARY:  The Controls Wiring Foreman oversees the installation of low voltage wiring systems in a construction and job-site environment.  This position is ideal for individuals looking to oversee and install wiring and controls systems for HVAC and/or whole building automation systems managing a crew of 2 or more Controls Wiring Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

- Ability to read and interpret proposals for Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS) or Building Automation Systems (BAS)

- Install low voltage wiring, conduit, controllers, and sensors for control systems

- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and specifications

- Order, track, and manage materials and equipment for assigned project

- Ensure adherence to job specific specs as well as state and local codes

- Assist estimating department as needed with job specific expertise and takeoffs

- Test systems after installation to ensure a quality install and setup for inspection

- Ensure wire sizes, supports, and controllers are correct for the application

- Willingness to work as part of the installation crew. This isn’t strictly a supervisory role.  We are looking for someone who will do the work and teach the other members of their crew

- Demonstrates and promotes a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the company

- Works collaboratively with supervisors and fellow team members

- Continually looks for ways to improve processes, efficiency, and personal performance

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

- Performs all duties with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction

- Supports Company efforts to meet production schedules and customer requirements

- Communicates professionally with supervisors and team members to resolve issues

SAFETY:

- Follows all Company safety programs and policies

- Uses required PPE at all times when appropriate

- Reports unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to the Supervisor or Safety Manager immediately

- Completes all assigned safety training within required timeframes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   This position doesn’t have direct reports or hire/fire responsibilities but serves as a crew lead on a construction project.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

- High school diploma or GED

- Willingness to teach wiring and controls concepts and processes

- Basic math and measuring skills

- Ability to use hand tools safely

- Strong work ethic and reliability

- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
