Summary:

In this role, you will design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable, secure, and user-centered software solutions across Vizient. You will work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, architects, data scientists, quality engineers, and other technology partners to deliver small, independently demonstrable increments that solve meaningful business and user needs. This role will leverage AI-assisted development practices, including structured work items, repository guidance, automated implementation, pull requests, testing, and continuous feedback.

Responsibilities:

·       Design and develop scalable applications, services, APIs, user experiences, and platform capabilities that support business processes and data-informed decisions.

·       Build cohesive solutions that enable the movement of information, decisions, workflows, and actions across enterprise business processes.

·       Develop secure REST APIs and distributed services using appropriate integration, messaging, and event-driven architecture patterns.

·       Contribute to AI-enabled and agentic systems that help users understand information, make decisions, identify actions, and manage work.

·       Write and maintain unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliable, maintainable, and production-ready solutions.

·       Contribute to application observability, accessibility, security, performance, scalability, and operational readiness.

·       Participate in technical design, backlog refinement, code reviews, demonstrations, release activities, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

·       Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and compliance with engineering standards.

·       Contribute to repository guidance, reusable engineering patterns, technical documentation, and Software Factory development practices.

·       Collaborate with product, architecture, data, quality engineering, and business stakeholders to understand user needs and deliver effective solutions.

·       Deliver functionality incrementally through small, independently testable units of work while balancing delivery speed, quality, security, maintainability, and long-term value.

·       Mentor other engineers and promote consistent engineering practices, ownership, accountability, and technical excellence across the workstream.

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.

·       5 or more years of professional software engineering experience required.

·       Strong experience developing production software using Java and Spring Boot or comparable backend technologies required.

·       Experience developing modern web applications using React, TypeScript, or comparable frontend technologies required.

·       Demonstrated experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed services required.

·       Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization required.

·       Experience with cloud-native software development and deployment required.

·       Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, source-control workflows, code reviews, and modern software development practices required.

·       Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, secure coding, and data-protection practices required.

·       Experience delivering functionality incrementally through small, independently testable units of work required.

·       Ability to understand user and business problems before implementing technical solutions required.

·       Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, technical documentation, ownership, accountability, and attention-to-detail skills required.

·       Ability to work effectively with product, engineering, data, quality, architecture, and business stakeholders required.

·       Ability to receive feedback, exercise sound judgment, continuously improve, and balance delivery speed with quality, security, maintainability, and long-term value required.

Preferred Experience:

·       Experience with Kafka, Confluent, event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, or related messaging technologies preferred.

·       Experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, Helm, JFrog, Harness, GitHub Actions, or comparable cloud and DevOps technologies preferred.

·       Experience integrating applications with enterprise systems and third-party platforms preferred.

·       Experience working with large-scale data, data quality, master data, analytics, or data platforms preferred.

·       Experience developing AI- or machine-learning-enabled applications, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, or AI output-evaluation capabilities preferred.

·       Familiarity with domain-driven design, bounded contexts, event storming, API-first design, accessibility, observability, feature flags, and production monitoring preferred.

·       Experience working in an AI-native or Software Factory development model preferred.

Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $102,400.00 to $179,000.00.
