About this role

We are seeking an IT Network Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of our corporate, datacenter, and cloud networking environments. This role will help maintain reliable connectivity for our Santa Clara headquarters and assist with network services that support our global offices, collocated datacenter, and AWS environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on enterprise networking experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid foundation in routing, switching, wireless, VPN, firewall, and cloud networking concepts. This role is expected to resolve assigned issues independently, contribute to network projects, follow established standards, and escalate complex architecture, security, or regional connectivity decisions to senior engineers or management.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Network Support

- Support day-to-day operation of corporate LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments, including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and SD-WAN appliances.
- Assist with office connectivity, including ISP circuits, VPN connections, and network access for employees.
- Help administer DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, NTP, and wired/wireless access controls.
- Troubleshoot escalated end-user connectivity issues from the Help Desk and assist with root-cause analysis.
- Support network hardware lifecycle activities, including inventory, documentation, refresh planning, and implementation tasks.
- Follow established network standards for configuration, monitoring, and change control.

Global Office Networking Support

- Support network connectivity for global offices in partnership with senior IT infrastructure team members, regional IT contacts, vendors, and managed service providers.
- Assist with maintaining site-to-site VPN, SD-WAN, and WAN connectivity between Santa Clara, international offices, datacenter resources, and cloud environments.
- Help monitor network performance for collaboration tools, engineering workflows, and business applications.
- Maintain regional documentation, circuit information, vendor contacts, and escalation paths.
- Participate in planned maintenance, office changes, and incident response activities across multiple time zones as needed.
- Escalate complex regional connectivity, compliance, or carrier issues to senior engineers or management.

Datacenter Network Support

- Support the physical and logical network environment at the companys collocated datacenter.
- Assist with top-of-rack switching, routing, load balancers, out-of-band management, and datacenter connectivity.
- Help coordinate smart-hands activities, cross-connect changes, and carrier-related tasks under direction.
- Support hybrid connectivity between the datacenter and AWS, including VPN and Direct Connect-related operational tasks.
- Maintain accurate datacenter network documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
- Participate in disaster recovery and failover testing as assigned.

AWS and Cloud Networking Support

- Support AWS networking components such as VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, internet gateways, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and load balancers.
- Assist with maintaining connectivity between production, staging, development, datacenter, and corporate environments.
- Help monitor performance, availability, and cost-related indicators for cloud network components.
- Partner with DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot service connectivity issues.
- Support established cloud networking patterns and escalate complex design decisions to senior engineers.

Network Security Support

- Support network security controls including firewalls, VPNs, security groups, access rules, segmentation, and monitoring.
- Implement approved firewall and access rule changes following formal change-control procedures.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation, audit evidence collection, and compliance-related network documentation.
- Participate in response and remediation for network-related security events.
- Help maintain secure configuration standards for network devices and access controls.

Authentication and Access Integration

- Support RADIUS, TACACS+, SAML, MFA, and related network authentication services under guidance.
- Assist with device access controls, conditional access processes, and administrative access procedures.
- Work with identity and security teams to troubleshoot access issues and maintain user/group access alignment.
- Monitor authentication-related logs and escalate anomalies or recurring issues.

Monitoring, Automation, and Operations

- Maintain and improve network monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and logging using approved tools.
- Assist with automation of routine network operations and configuration tasks.
- Participate in on-call rotation for network incidents after appropriate training.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational runbooks.
- Provide clear updates, incident notes, and remediation summaries for assigned work.
