POSITION SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, the Aircraft Paralegal assists the Aviation practice with projects related to the aviation industry. As a member of a professional support staff team, this position will also promote and maintain the goodwill and reputation of the Firm and maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

- Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence on domestic and foreign companies and individuals in connection with aviation escrow matters;

- Basic knowledge and/or background in review of corporate documents both foreign and domestic including various forms of corporate documents, shareholder registers, organizational charts, government issued identification and other supporting KYC documentation

- Research corporate ownership structures to identify ultimate beneficial owners, directors, officers and other principals

- Perform screening against OFAC, BIS and other applicable US sanctions and restricted-party lists

- Conduct adverse media research

- Maintain accurate, complete and organized KYC / compliance files

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School diploma or the equivalent is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of legal experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and other office products.

Other Requirements: Basic understanding of KYC / AML procedures, compliance, corporate ownership and structure. Strong online research and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document research findings. Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to conduct research to learn new tasks. Strong organizational skills to maintain work lists, organize documents, and monitor deadlines and filings. Ability to ask questions, clarify issues, and provide project updates as needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills (comprehension & expression). Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Detail-oriented and ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence. Possess sense of initiative and responsibility to manage case load and maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment and maintain case/trial deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be sedentary work.
