What you’ll be doing…

Verizon’s Technical Accounting department is seeking an experienced leader to oversee key sub-functions within our organization, driving strategy and participating in overall company policy generation.

- Leading and managing a diverse team and support team members’ professional and career development
- Providing guidance and develop comprehensive documentation on the appropriate application of US generally accepted accounting principles to complex and emerging issues
- Leading discussions with executive and senior management on key issues, resulting impacts and conclusions
- Developing appropriate accounting solutions to unique situations where precedents or clear guidance do not exist
- Providing training/coaching to professional staff on how to perform thorough research and provide sufficient and appropriate level of documentation to support basis for conclusion
- Liaising with partners in business units, other corporate functions and executive management to provide insights into accounting issues, identify implications and offer practical solutions
- Engaging with other members of the Accounting Operations, Finance, Tax, and business teams to address issues on a timely basis
- Developing positions and opinions to anticipate and resolve accounting and reporting inquiries from the FASB and SEC staffs
- Discussing and resolving issues on an one-on-one basis with the Company's external auditor partners and national office staff
- Executing on time sensitive technical issues and bring them to conclusion

What we’re looking for…

You will lead multidisciplinary projects, manage project investments, and build strong cross-functional networks with internal and external decision-makers. You are able to formulate accounting applications to complex business issues, and are able to communicate highly technical matters in a manner that is clear and easy to understand by non-technical personnel. You will establish policies for your area while leading a team. Using your exceptional communication skills, you will operate with high autonomy, exercising independent judgment to navigate complex, diverse initiatives, manage sub-functional budgets, and set evaluation criteria that deliver measurable results.

You’ll need to have…

- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
- Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Active CPA license.
- 10+ years’ experience in Accounting/Finance; experience in public accounting firm or large organization with hands-on experience addressing technical accounting and reporting required

Even better if you have…

- Public company and SEC experience highly preferred
- Extremely broad-based knowledge and experience with accounting and reporting standards; Experience with interpreting and applying ASC 606, Revenue Recognition highly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of SEC practices and procedures
- Experience in resolving accounting issues with national offices of Big 4 accounting firms

## Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $132,500.00 - $231,000.00.
