About this role

Make a Difference. Help Someone Build Independence!

Harvest Healthcare Solutions is seeking compassionate, dependable, and experienced Independent Living Skills (ILS) Coaches / Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence in their homes and communities.

We are expanding our team to serve individuals throughout the Yuba City to Sacramento region and surrounding counties. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish are strongly preferred to help us better serve individuals and families in our diverse communities.

If you have experience in developmental disabilities, caregiving, direct support, or human services and enjoy teaching practical life skills, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

What Does an ILS Coach Do?

An ILS Coach works one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities to help them learn, practice, and maintain the skills needed to live as independently as possible.

Rather than simply completing tasks for someone, you will serve as a coach, mentor, and positive support who encourages individuals to build confidence, make their own choices, and achieve goals outlined in their Individual Program Plan (IPP).

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized Independent Living Services based on each person's authorized service plan and IPP goals.

- Teach and reinforce independent living and daily living skills.

- Support household organization, cleaning, meal planning, and basic food preparation.

- Assist individuals with budgeting, money management, shopping, and personal organization.

- Teach transportation skills, community navigation, and safety awareness.

- Encourage communication, self-advocacy, decision-making, and self-determination.

- Promote social interaction, community participation, and appropriate use of community resources.

- Encourage individuals to develop skills at their own pace while respecting their choices and abilities.

- Maintain professional boundaries and protect confidential information.

- Complete accurate service notes, progress reports, time records, and required documentation.

- Communicate appropriately with supervisors, families, and support teams as authorized.

- Report incidents, safety concerns, and significant changes in accordance with company and Regional Center requirements.

- Follow company policies, person-centered practices, and applicable California regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

- At least 2 years of experience supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) in a professional or direct-support setting.

- Experience in one or more related fields, including DSP services, caregiving, independent living support, behavioral support, community integration, or human services.

- Ability to work independently while following an individual's authorized service plan.

- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

- Dependability, patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to person-centered support.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.

- Reliable transportation for community-based services, when required.

- Ability to complete electronic documentation and service notes.

Strongly Preferred:

- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

- Previous experience as an Independent Living Services (ILS) Coach or Direct Support Professional.

- Experience working with California Regional Center clients, particularly Alta California Regional Center.

- Knowledge of person-centered planning and Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) principles.

- Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or other developmental disabilities.

- DSP certification, caregiving training, or related human services education.

Why Join Harvest Healthcare Solutions?

- Meaningful work that promotes independence, dignity, and inclusion.

- Flexible scheduling with approximately 15–25 hours per week.

- Competitive hourly pay of $19–$20, depending on experience.

- Paid training.

- Opportunities to build on your experience in developmental disabilities and community-based services.

- A supportive team committed to person-centered care and individual success.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

You may be a great fit if you are a DSP, caregiver, ILS professional, behavioral health worker, or human services professional who enjoys helping others develop practical skills and achieve personal goals.

We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, encouraging, and comfortable working independently in homes and community settings.

Spanish-speaking candidates are especially encouraged to apply! Your bilingual communication skills can help us build stronger connections with the individuals and families we serve.
