Overview of the Program
Lincoln Electric’s Computer Programming Engineering Co-op Program offers participants the opportunity to apply their coding and software development skills in real-world environments. Co-ops work on impactful projects involving software development, automation systems, data analysis, and industrial applications, gaining hands-on experience with technologies used in modern manufacturing and engineering operations.
Participants contribute to designing, developing, testing, and optimizing software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The program also includes technical training, mentorship from experienced professionals, and professional development opportunities such as presentations, coding reviews, and leadership-led sessions.
This co-op is an excellent way to strengthen programming skills, build a professional network, and explore a future career in software development within an innovative, technology-driven organization. This position requires participation in our Immersion Day at our Cleveland, OH headquarters during one of your first few weeks. Lincoln Electric will provide and cover all travel arrangements and expenses.
What You'll Work On
- Design and develop software systems or embedded applications for industrial machines and automated processes
- Create detailed technical specifications, including system architecture, software requirements, code documentation, and testing plans
- Develop, test, and debug software for prototype equipment, including embedded systems, control algorithms, and user interfaces
- Implement and optimize software-based quality control systems, including data collection, analysis, and troubleshooting production issues
- Develop and enhance software-driven solutions (e.g., automation scripts, control systems, or data tools) through applied research and experimentation
- Assist in the design and implementation of safety-critical software, including monitoring systems, fail-safes, and controls for industrial machinery
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or achieved a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology
- Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in any of the following disciplines : Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, with other engineering or tech degrees
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Interest in working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
