Description

As a Banquet Houseperson , you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of the hotel's banquet facilities, meeting rooms, and surrounding areas. This role includes setting up, arranging, and breaking down banquet and meeting spaces according to event requirements, ensuring all areas are clean, properly maintained, and ready for guests. You will also assist with banquet food and beverage service, support the banquet team during events, and help ensure a seamless and memorable guest experience.

Guest Service and Hospitality

- Be readily available, approachable, and professional when interacting with guests, providing prompt and courteous service.
- Anticipate guest needs and take a proactive approach to addressing requests, concerns, and special accommodations.
- Assist banquet guests with inquiries, directions, and event-related requests.
- Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude and work collaboratively with the banquet and food and beverage teams.

Banquet Setup and Event Support

- Set up, arrange, and break down banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and event areas according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and hotel standards.
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, staging, dance floors, and other event equipment based on specific event requirements.
- Ensure banquet rooms and meeting spaces are clean, organized, properly stocked, and guest-ready before each event.
- Assist with transporting, setting up, and replenishing food and beverage stations, buffets, coffee breaks, and other banquet service areas.
- Support banquet servers with food and beverage service, including serving and clearing plates, glassware, silverware, and other service items as needed.
- Assist with buffet service, maintaining food presentation, replenishing supplies, and keeping service stations clean and organized.
- Respond promptly to guest requests during banquet functions and coordinate with banquet servers, supervisors, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Clear tables, remove used service items, and maintain cleanliness throughout events without disrupting guests.
- Assist with post-event cleanup, equipment storage, and resetting banquet spaces for upcoming functions.
- Handle banquet furniture, equipment, china, glassware, and silverware carefully to minimize damage and breakage.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures when assisting with banquet service.

Public Area Cleaning and Maintenance

- Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of banquet facilities, meeting rooms, corridors, and designated public areas in accordance with brand and Island Hospitality Management (IHM) standards.
- Clean furniture, elevators, glass surfaces, planters, and other fixtures in public areas, including the lobby, pool area, and public restrooms.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, hallways, stairwells, and banquet spaces.
- Spot-clean walls, carpets, doors, light fixtures, and other surfaces as needed.
- Collect and properly dispose of trash from banquet areas, public spaces, parking lots, and landscaped areas.
- Deliver soiled linens to the laundry department and properly rotate and organize clean linens in designated storage areas.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish linens, cleaning supplies, paper products, and other consumables in storage areas and housekeeping carts.
- Deliver guest-requested items, such as cribs and other amenities, to guestrooms as needed.

Safety, Compliance, and Teamwork

- Understand and comply with applicable health, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Recognize and immediately report potential safety hazards, including damaged equipment, broken doors or railings, spills, and fire hazards.
- Follow established hotel policies and procedures, including key control, equipment handling, and security protocols.
- Promptly notify supervisors of damages, maintenance deficiencies, disturbances, and unsafe conditions.
- Report maintenance issues and submit work orders through the hotel's designated reporting system.
- Safely operate and store banquet equipment, cleaning tools, and supplies.
- Coordinate with the Banquet, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Desk teams to support efficient hotel operations.
- Remain flexible and assist with banquet service, room turnovers, public area cleaning, and other operational duties based on business needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to ensure operational efficiency and exceptional guest service.

- Must be physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving banquet furniture, staging, dance floor panels, tables, chairs, and other event equipment, with appropriate assistance when necessary.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Willingness and ability to assist with banquet food and beverage service, including event setup, serving guests, replenishing buffets, clearing tables, and event breakdown.
- Ability to follow instructions, banquet event orders (BEOs), and established hotel service and safety standards.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- Previous experience in banquet operations, food and beverage service, or hospitality is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors.
