Job Description:

Position Purpose summary:

This position provides responsible delivering and picking up of The Salvation Army Kettles at various locations throughout the City of Red Deer, ensuring that the daily schedule runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Kettle Coordinator immediately, and filling in gaps where necessary. This is a temporary position for the Christmas season starting November 2 - December 24, 2026, $19.00 per hour.

Accountabilities:

Kettle Delivery :

·         Deliver and pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the city

·         Deliver supplies to kettle locations as required

·         Cover breaks for kettle volunteers and paid workers as assigned by Kettle Coordinator

·         Act as a Kettle Attendant when necessary

·         Follow policies and procedures as directed by the Kettle Coordinator

·         Follow the provided schedule and complete necessary paperwork

Driving :

·         Follow all pertinent laws, statutes and regulations while operating a motor vehicle

·         Knowledge of Red Deer area roadways

·         Ability to concentrate while driving through traffic

Other related duties as assigned.

Internal:

·         Directly reports to the Kettle Coordinator

External:

- Dealing with Kettle Volunteers and Workers, be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army
- Greeting and Thanking donors
- Must be able to work with a variety of people

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:

- This position reports directly to the Kettle Coordinator

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

- Involved in minor financial matters regularly, or on a relief basis
- Involved in the opening of Kettles, which must be in the presence of two non-related people
- Responsible for the safe keeping of Kettles when picked up at end of shift – ensuring vehicle is kept locked at all times

WORKING CONDITIONS:

·         Working in inclement weather conditions – both driving or on foot, have an awareness of slippery condition

·         Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions and think independently

education and experience Qualifications:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

- Have a valid Alberta Driver’s License
- Provide a clean Driver’s Abstract
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. for a short distance and upstairs
- Completion of High School

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

·         Good interpersonal/communication skills

·         Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $16.82 to $21.03 with a maximum of $25.23.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
