The Opportunity:

Sephora Internships provide an inclusive and comprehensive experience that equips young professionals with the tools needed to align their passions with work. The 10-week internship program develops early career professionals by providing interns with hands-on learning, personal and professional networking opportunities, and the ability to work on projects that directly impact the business.

Throughout the summer, interns will gain exposure to Sephora's culture, teams, and career opportunities while building both technical and professional skills.

Program Details:

An inclusive and engaging experience that develops technical and professional skills through weekly virtual workshops, networking opportunities, and career panels that provide exposure to Sephora's career growth opportunities.

2027 Program Dates:

- June 14 - August 20, 2027

- Working hours: 36hrs/week. Monday - Friday, PST

- July 6 - July 9, 2027: Intern Optional Summer Shutdown

Position Title: Intern, Machine Learning Engineer

Your Role At Sephora

As the Intern, Machine Learning Engineer, you will support advanced machine learning and Generative AI initiatives that address complex business challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop data-driven solutions, experiment with emerging AI techniques, and help deliver working applications that advance Sephora's AI capabilities.

What You'll Accomplish :

- Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and algorithms that address complex business challenges.

- Apply Generative AI techniques to fine-tune models, support synthetic data generation and data augmentation, and engineer AI agents using commercial and open-source large language models.

- Collaborate with domain experts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable AI solutions and working applications.

- Conduct exploratory data analysis, data preprocessing, and feature engineering to prepare high-quality inputs for modeling, measurement, and testing.

- Communicate findings and technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, while contributing to machine learning infrastructure, best practices, and experimentation with emerging AI techniques.

Qualifications & Experience :

- Experience with data science, machine learning, Generative AI, or agentic AI systems through coursework, projects, research, or prior work experience.

- Proficiency in writing and testing object-oriented Python code, with hands-on experience using machine learning libraries and frameworks.

- Working knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and experience implementing AI models.

- Knowledge of AI system design, measurement, testing techniques, SQL, and structured or unstructured data processing.

- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Exposure to cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and distributed computing is a plus.

Eligibility Requirements:

- Graduating in 2027 or 2028 (undergraduate or graduate degree)

- Work schedule must align with 9-5PM, Pacific Standard Time

- Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.

- Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions*

- Available from June 14 - August 20, 2027

What You’ll Get:

The target hourly pay for this position is $30.00 - $30.00. The actual hourly pay offered depends on various factors, which may include, as applicable, the individual applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
