About this role
FERMÀT is the leading commerce AI platform that partners with the world’s largest brands to deliver dynamic, personalized shopping experiences. Our technology powers the customer journeys behind enterprises like GNC, Backcountry, and Glossier and allows them to deliver best-in-class shopper engagement and conversion while enabling them to stay on the cutting edge of what’s possible in agentic commerce.
We’re backed by VMG, Bain Capital Ventures, Greylock, and QED, and have been named The Information's #1 commerce startup. We're a 60+ person team based in SF, NYC, and Bangalore - come build the infrastructure of the future of commerce with us!
FERMÀT is looking for a Head of Forward Deployed Product Management to lead the team that makes our customers sell more.
Our Forward Deployed PMs work inside the accounts of some of the biggest brands in commerce and find lift wherever it hides: in paid campaigns, in merchandising, and in the dynamic, personalized pages FERMÀT powers. They decide what to test, ship it with our engineers, read the results, and turn what they learn into the next win for the customer and the next feature for our product. Think growth operator, product manager, and trusted advisor in one.
You'll lead that team. You've done this work yourself, so you can sit with an FDPM and pressure-test a campaign or page experiment, walk into a CMO's office and explain what's working and why, and turn patterns across accounts into a playbook the whole team runs. This is a hands-on role: you'll stay close to customers and results while you hire, coach, and set the bar for the team.
What you'll own
- Finding lift. Own the team's ability to move conversion and revenue for customers. Spot the highest-impact opportunities across paid campaigns, merchandising, and dynamic pages, and make sure the team runs fast, well-designed experiments against them.
- Team leadership and development. Hire, coach, and develop FDPMs. Establish clear expectations, support career growth, and build a team capable of independently leading complex customer partnerships.
- Customer outcomes. Ensure every engagement has clear business objectives, a prioritized execution plan, and a credible approach to measuring success. Set team goals and KPIs, run a regular operating cadence against them, and hold the team accountable for successful launches, product adoption, and demonstrated value.
- Delivery quality and capacity. Set standards for scoping, implementation, validation, and ongoing optimization. Allocate accounts based on complexity and opportunity, manage dependencies, and resolve escalations.
- Strategic customer leadership. Support FDPMs in complex relationships, build executive trust, and align stakeholders around priorities and results. Partner with commercial leadership by surfacing customer risks and opportunities and providing evidence of business impact.
- Product direction from customer learning. Turn patterns across deployments into actionable recommendations for Product and Engineering. Distinguish customer-specific requirements from capabilities that should become part of the core product.
- Scalable execution. Build playbooks, tools, and AI-enabled workflows that improve speed and consistency. Reduce repetitive work so FDPMs can focus on decisions and execution that require their judgment.
- Analytical rigor. Establish a high bar for experiment design, data quality, and interpreting results. Ensure the team translates analysis into clear recommendations and next actions that improve conversion and customer performance.
What you'll bring
- Hands-on experience driving measurable growth for ecommerce or consumer brands: optimizing paid campaigns, merchandising, landing pages, or conversion funnels. Your team will expect a leader who has done the work.
- Experience managing and developing teams in forward deployed product, agent strategy, growth, technical product management, or a related customer-facing technical function.
- A track record of delivering complex enterprise implementations from discovery through launch, adoption, and measurable impact.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to prioritize competing customer needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
- Technical fluency to work with engineers on integrations, data flows, instrumentation, and implementation tradeoffs.
- Analytical depth to evaluate experiments, question data quality, and connect product performance to customer outcomes.
- The ability to build trust with executive sponsors and working teams, communicate difficult tradeoffs, and keep complex engagements moving.
- Experience building repeatable processes and managing a team against goals, while maintaining a high standard of customer-specific execution.
- Experience with AI products or agentic workflows is a strong plus.
Benefits
