OUR OPENING
We’re growing and looking to add a Business Development Manager to our Journey Construction team. In this role, you’ll drive revenue growth by finding new opportunities, building lasting client relationships, and winning work across our target markets, including healthcare, commercial, education, government, and industrial. You’ll be the face of Journey to prospective clients and work closely with leadership, preconstruction, and operations to position us to win the right projects.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER?

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in healthcare, commercial, education, government, industrial, and other target markets
- Develop and carry out strategic business development plans to meet revenue, backlog, and growth goals
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Establish and grow relationships with owners, developers, architects, and consultants, serving as the primary contact for prospective clients during early project stages
- Lead the pursuit process, including RFQs, RFPs, and interviews, and define win strategies, differentiators, and messaging for each pursuit
- Partner with our Pursuit and Proposal Manager and Preconstruction team to develop compelling proposals and presentations
- Participate in client presentations and project interviews
- Represent Journey at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings
- Analyze market trends, competitors, and client needs, and share market intelligence with internal teams
- Support early project planning, contract negotiations, and project kickoff
- Maintain accurate pipeline, opportunity, and client data in our CRM to track activity and support leadership reporting

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION NEEDED

- 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or project management within the construction industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience in healthcare, commercial office, or renovation markets preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED

- Knowledge of construction processes, delivery methods, and contract structures
- Proven ability to build relationships and grow repeat business
- Strong presentation and written communication skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to define win strategies and differentiate in competitive pursuits
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits and meet tight deadlines
- Experience with CRM platforms
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
