About Our Opportunity
Are you ready to take on a dynamic and impactful policy leadership role? As the Strategic Policy Lead and Funding Navigator, you will report to the Director of Policy and Regulatory Excellence and provide strategic policy capacity across the department. Your leadership and problem-solving skills will be crucial in leading top priority files, addressing emerging issues, and ensuring government priorities are actioned.
The Strategic Analyst and Funding Navigator works with a team of professionals to implement the climate change plan and coordinate future strategic climate action. This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of programs and policies that have been outlined in the climate change plan. You will take meaningful action on climate change which will involve collaborating and building partnerships to coordinate and advance initiatives with external partners and other provincial government departments.
Primary Accountabilities
This position will support the implementation of the province’s climate change plan. You will be responsible for helping external stakeholders in understanding what funding programs are available to them and helping to guide these stakeholders through various application processes. This position will support evaluating and reporting annually on key progress indicators and outcomes related to the climate change plan and the Environmental Goals and Climate Change Reduction Act.
In this role, you will create an environment that promotes continuous learning and improvement by seeking feedback from your colleagues and being open to critiques that improve outcomes. Within this ever-evolving field, you will lead through change and be willing to adjust quickly, as needed. This work requires innovative approaches to capacity building, community engagement, education and information sharing to ensure that engagement is inclusive, and that the information is trusted.
Qualifications and Experience
You have a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Business, Public Policy or other relevant post-secondary concentration plus 6 years of experience in participating in the management, administration, design and/or evaluation of funding programs or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in the development of application packages for funding programs or leading consultative processes on funding programs will also be deemed equivalent experience. A master’s degree in a relevant post-secondary concentration would be considered an asset. knowledge and experience in research, planning, project management, critical thinking and analysis is required.
As the successful candidate, you have knowledge of current provincial, national, and international climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, programs and plans as well as a strong understanding of how the initiatives impact the people, communities, and businesses of the province. A demonstrated understanding of funding programs related to climate change mitigation and adaptation is required. Having a pre-existing network within organizations that either deliver or regularly apply for climate-related funding would be an asset. As is experience with funding programs that support marginalized and racialized communities.
The ability to apply theory and best practice to identify creative, practical, and defensible approaches to overcoming challenges is an asset. As is the ability to recognize and articulate appropriate approaches to policy issues. A demonstrated understanding of provincial climate change mitigation and adaptation priorities is an asset. The willingness and ability to share data, ideas and experiences with colleagues that may assist with policy planning or partnership building is a strong asset.

Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasion skills are required.

Pay Grade: PR 17
Salary Range: $3,410.48 - $4,005.58 Bi-Weekly
