About the Opportunity:
The CNC Lathe Operator will be responsible for the setup and operation of three Citizen 8-axis CNC lathes, each equipped with a main spindle and a sub spindle, producing precision turned components as assigned by their lead hand. The basic skill sets required for this position include knowledge of G/M code programming for multi-axis lathes, the ability to set up and change over tooling on both the main and sub spindle sides of the machine, the ability to read blueprints, and the ability to measure using a Vernier caliper and micrometer.

Key Responsibilities :
- Set up and operate three Citizen 8-axis CNC lathes (main and sub spindle) to complete production parts.
- Perform complete job changeovers, including loading bar stock and adjusting the bar feeder, changing collets and guide bushings, and installing and touching off turning, drilling, cross-working and back-working tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine the sequence of machining operations, including how operations are split between the main spindle and the sub spindle.
- Set and adjust tool geometry and wear offsets on both spindles to maintain dimensions and accuracy.
- Edit and prove out G/M code programs at the control, running new setups safely before releasing to production.
- Perform QC inspections to complete first offs, and carry out in-process checks throughout the run.
- Confirm specification of parts conform to drawings using Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, thread gauges, pin gauges and other precision measuring instruments as needed.
- Perform precision lathe operations such as turning, facing, boring, drilling, grooving, threading, tapping, cross-drilling, live-tool milling and part-off.
- Optimize programs to reduce cycle time and setup times, including balancing work between the main and sub spindle and overlapping operations where possible.
- Monitor tool wear and replace inserts and tools as needed; maintain coolant/oil levels, the chip conveyor and routine machine upkeep.
- Confirm part performance meets Engineering specifications.
- Other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; College diploma an asset.
- 2-5 years of experience in setting up and operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with Citizen machines, Swiss-type lathes, or multi-axis lathes with a sub spindle is a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of G/M code for multi-axis lathes, including synchronized main/sub spindle operations and part transfer.
- Programming with Mastercam is an asset.
- Understanding of turning tooling, inserts, and speeds and feeds for materials such as stainless steel, brass and engineered plastics.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges and height gauges required.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
