The Role:
The Data Analyst - Credit Risk Management & Counterparty Risk (Client & Markets Data) role sits within Citi's Enterprise Data group, a core part of the firm's first line of defense for wholesale and counterparty credit risk management. This seasoned professional applies in-depth analytical and subject-matter expertise to examine credit risk, liquidity, and trade/reference data, identifying patterns and trends that inform business planning and risk decision-making. The role involves close collaboration with technology teams to design and deliver remediation solutions for data issues, as well as direct engagement with data consumers to understand requirements and resolve concerns logged in the DCRM tool. The individual will regularly take on informal or formal leadership responsibilities, coach junior team members, and exercise sound judgment in balancing complex, sometimes conflicting inputs from multiple stakeholders. Ultimately, this person contributes to Citi's broader data transformation efforts by ensuring timely, accurate, and complete data that supports business-as-usual operations, risk analysis, and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes Credit Risk Management, Liquidity Management, and related data sets, including data sourced from front office trade capture systems and reference data sources.
- Gathers operational data from various cross-functional stakeholders to examine past business performance.
- Identifies data patterns and trends.
- Provides insights to enhance business decision-making in areas such as business planning, process improvement, and solution assessment.
- Discusses data issues with technology teams to design and deliver remediation solutions.
- Discusses data requirements and the impact of data issues with data consumers, as raised in the DCRM tool.
- Performs administrative updates of Data Concerns within the DCRM tool to maintain accurate, current status tracking.
- Recommends actions to support future developments and strategic business opportunities.
- Recommends enhancements to operational policies based on data findings.
- May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis, and/or qualitative analysis.
- Translates data into consumer or customer behavioral insights to drive targeting and segmentation strategies.
- Communicates findings clearly and effectively to business partners and senior leaders.
- Continuously improves processes and strategies by exploring and evaluating new data sources, tools, and capabilities.
- Works closely with internal and external business partners to build, implement, track, and improve decision strategies.
- Appropriately assesses risk in all business decisions, with particular consideration for the firm's reputation.
- Safeguards Citigroup, its clients, and its assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Adheres to Citi policy and applies sound ethical judgment regarding personal conduct and business practices.
- Escalates, manages, and reports control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
- 4-5 years' experience performing data analytics with financial markets data and products.
- At least 1 year of experience in SQL or Python scripting.
- Hands-on Experience leveraging tools such as Excel, Tableau, SQL and Python to perform data analysis.
- Understanding of how firms manage Credit and Market Risk for trading book activity.
- Knowledge of Financial markets structure and products, including over-the-counter derivatives, securities financing transactions, exchange-traded derivatives and cash trading.
- Comfortable working with large data sets and able to demonstrate a firm understanding of logical data structures and analysis techniques.
- Data tracing, Data mining, visualization, analysis – identifying patterns/trends, exploratory data analysis, root cause analysis, machine learning & predictive analytics.
- Experience interacting across multiple teams globally and influencing diverse groups of stakeholders
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple competing priorities while delivering results quickly and efficiently.
- Prior experience with a focus in financial services analytics.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present to business partners and/or leaders to gain approvals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully both as a self-starter and successfully within a team environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.
- Master's degree preferred.

$87,280.00 - $130,920.00
