Summary
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Workday Architect, reporting directly to Sr. Director, Workforce Systems & Payroll. The Workday Architect will be responsible for the technical design, scalability, and long-term strategy of the organization's Workday ecosystem. This role translates business requirements into sound technical architecture across HCM, Payroll, and related modules, and serves as the top-level escalation point for complex configuration, integration, and data issues. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely from any US location.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and govern the overall Workday architecture, including business process frameworks, security model, tenant configuration, and integration landscapeLead complex projects such as module implementations, mergers/acquisitions integrations, and major upgrades or tenant consolidations
- Own the integration strategy between Workday and third-party/downstream systems (payroll providers, benefits carriers, time tracking, finance systems), using EIBs, Studio, Core Connectors, and/or Workday web services (SOAP/REST)
- Establish and enforce configuration standards, naming conventions, and governance practices to maintain a scalable, sustainable tenant
- Partner with the Workforce Systems leader to translate business strategy into system roadmaps
- Conduct architectural reviews of proposed configuration changes to assess downstream impact
- Lead technical evaluation of new Workday releases (bi-annual updates) and advise on adoption of new features
- Mentor Workday Administrators and analysts; act as final point of escalation for complex break/fix issues
- Manage relationships with Workday Professional Services, AMS vendors, and implementation partners as needed
- Ensure data integrity, security compliance, and audit readiness across the tenant
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of Workday experience, including at least 3 years in an architect or lead technical design capacity
- Deep expertise across multiple Workday modules (HCM required; Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking and/or Projects strongly preferred)
- Proven experience with Workday integration tools (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, Workday web services)
- Strong understanding of Workday security groups, business process configuration, and calculated fields
- Experience leading full lifecycle implementations or major tenant transformations
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical leadership
Desired Certifications:
- Workday certifications in Integrations preferred Workday Pro certification a plus
Travel: Occasional annual travel for team events 5-10%
The good faith base salary range for this role is $140,000-190,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
