- Confirm proper alignment, tooling clearance, spindle speeds, and feed rates for small diameter, high-precision components.
- Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) using micrometers, comparators, and other high-precision measuring equipment.
- Adjust tool offsets, spindle sync, and bar feeder parameters as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Troubleshoot issues such as chip buildup, coolant flow, bar feeder jams, or tooling failures during setup and startup.
- Record and document setup information, including photos, tool lists, and critical setup parameters for future repeatability.
- Monitor and ensure bar feeder alignment, material feed, and cutting tool performance throughout setup.
- Maintain cleanliness of the machine, bar feeder, chip conveyors, and surrounding work area.
- Assist operators with startup and handoff to production; provide support during first-run validation.
