Job Description
The Maintenance, Inventory & Facilities Assistant supports the daily operations of the animal hospital by maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and functional facility. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs, assisting with inventory management and stocking supplies, monitoring facility needs, and helping ensure hospital spaces are properly maintained for patients, clients, and staff.

Facilities Maintenance
- Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and repair issues.
- Complete minor repairs and general maintenance tasks, including tightening fixtures, assembling furniture, and addressing minor plumbing or hardware issues within the employee’s skill level.
- Assist with maintaining doors, walls, floors, storage areas, kennels, staff spaces, and other hospital areas.
- Coordinate with management repairs requiring specialized contractors.
- Maintain organized storage rooms, utility areas, and maintenance supplies.
- Report facility damage, equipment concerns, and potential safety hazards promptly.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing deliveries.
- Stock shelves, supply rooms, treatment areas, and other designated hospital locations.
- Monitor supply levels and notify the appropriate team member when items need to be reordered.
- Assist with routine inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records.
- Rotate products and organize supplies according to hospital procedures, including checking expiration dates when applicable.
- Keep inventory and storage areas clean, labeled, and organized.
- Assist with moving and distributing supplies throughout the hospital.
Hospital Cleanliness & Organization
- Help maintain clean, orderly, and professional hospital spaces.
- Remove cardboard, packaging, and general waste in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Support hospital cleaning and organization projects as assigned.
- Follow hospital protocols for handling waste, cleaning products, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Take ownership of assigned areas by completing daily cleaning tasks, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, and promptly addressing any maintenance concerns.
Safety & Team Support
- Follow all hospital safety policies and procedures.
- Use tools, equipment, and cleaning products appropriately and safely.
- Maintain awareness of patients, clients, staff, and activity throughout the hospital.
- Communicate maintenance and inventory concerns to hospital leadership.
- Assist with special projects, room setups, deliveries, and other operational needs as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support hospital operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities support, inventory, warehouse operations, or a similar role preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and routine maintenance tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with team members.
- Comfortable working in a veterinary hospital environment
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role ; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
