About this role
Provide nursing care to critically ill newborns within the Family Centered Care philosophy framework.
Candidate will have the ability to utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients served. Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families. Candidate will demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values (Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity and Excellence) in every aspect of their job. Candidate must have excellent communication and computer skills.
- Promotes and restores patient’s health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members.
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with parents/ caregivers.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, parents, friends, and families.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; and following hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; and calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by completing ongoing NICU educational requirements.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required:
1. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
2. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
3. BLS certification.
4. active NRP certification.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
a. All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date.
2. Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
3. RNC in NIC or related field
4. 2 + year of experience in Level 3 or higher NICU Nursing or relevant area.
