Director of Collections and Title Services
We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee two specialized areas of our business: Small Claims Collections and Southwest Title & Registration (STAR) .
This position is responsible for leading employees, improving collection recoveries, strengthening title-service operations, developing scalable processes, and identifying opportunities for future growth and revenue.
This is a developing leadership role. The selected candidate will initially complete extensive cross-training in both departments while working within the existing leadership structure. Full leadership responsibility will transition once training is complete and the individual has demonstrated readiness to lead both functions.
What You’ll Do
Small Claims Collections
- Lead and develop the Small Claims collections team.
- Drive recovery performance on eligible accounts.
- Ensure accounts are properly identified, prioritized, documented, and worked through established Go Legal and small claims processes.
- Review collection activity and results and coach employees to improve performance.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the legal collection and small claims processes used in supported states.
- Help evaluate and implement expansion of Small Claims into additional states.
Southwest Title & Registration (STAR)
- Oversee title research, lien, electronic lien, and related title-processing activity.
- Ensure title-service work is accurate, timely, and completed according to company procedures and applicable state requirements.
- Monitor productivity, turnaround times, outstanding items, and quality of work.
- Maintain appropriate controls, documentation, confidentiality, and system-access practices.
- Help develop STAR for future title and lien-processing services for outside dealership customers.
Leadership & Department Growth
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable for results.
- Establish departmental goals, productivity expectations, service standards, and key performance indicators.
- Develop workflows, procedures, training materials, reporting, and performance standards.
- Use data and performance trends to identify opportunities and improve results.
- Build cross-training and coverage to reduce single-person dependencies.
- Assess staffing needs and participate in recruiting, onboarding, and employee development.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, recoveries, service levels, and revenue.
- Provide regular performance and growth reporting to senior leadership.
- Partner closely with Field Operations and corporate support departments.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing employees.
- Meaningful collections experience with an understanding of collection strategy, account prioritization, customer communication, and performance management.
- Ability to manage multiple functions, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn specialized small claims, title, lien, and motor vehicle processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate controls.
- Experience using metrics and reporting to manage performance and drive improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience in consumer finance, lending, collections, recovery, automotive finance, title services, or a related industry.
- Experience with small claims, post-default collections, recovery, or legal collection processes.
- Experience with vehicle titles, liens, electronic liens, motor vehicle systems, dealership title processing, or similar functions.
- Experience building, expanding, or restructuring a department, team, or operational process.
- Experience supporting operations across multiple states.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership position , but the Director’s primary responsibility is to lead and grow the operation—not to function as an additional collector or title clerk.
The successful candidate will learn both areas in depth so they can effectively coach employees, evaluate performance, remove barriers, strengthen processes, and prepare the departments for continued growth.
Initial Training & Transition
The selected candidate will initially work within the existing leadership structure while learning both departments.
Training will include:
- Small Claims workflow and collection strategy
- Go Legal and small claims processes
- Reporting and performance expectations
- State-specific legal process requirements
- STAR title and lien processes
- Motor vehicle and title systems
- Department workflows, controls, and responsibilities
Full leadership responsibility will transition after the candidate has developed a comprehensive understanding of both functions and demonstrated readiness to lead them.
Future Growth Opportunities
This role will play an important part in the future growth of both departments, including:
- Expanding Small Claims into additional states.
- Growing and developing the Small Claims collection team.
- Expanding STAR staffing and capabilities.
- Developing title and lien-processing services for outside dealerships.
- Building scalable reporting, staffing models, controls, and performance standards.
- Identifying additional recovery and title-service revenue opportunities.
