Associate Director – Creative Video & Production, Global Communications
The Associate Director, Creative Video & Production sets visual direction across enterprise storytelling within Global Communications, bringing Lilly's news and stories to life through short- and long-form video, and overseeing the production that gets it made. The mandate is video storytelling that's unmistakably Lilly: human, caring, and centered on the people we serve.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Creative & Production, this leader moves work from concept to finished asset with craft, speed, and consistency at the pace of a newsroom and the standard of a best-in-class studio. It’s a rare opportunity to turn a global company’s purpose — making life better — into stories the world wants to watch and share.
This is a role for a video creative with a strong directorial point of view, the craft to back it up, and an operator’s instinct for how to run a production team — a leader who can shape a concept, shoot and edit it themselves, lead the production pipeline behind it, and elevate the work of everyone around them.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
· Set and elevate the creative direction for video and motion storytelling, translating strategy and ideas into compelling, on-brand content across channels and formats.
· Direct and produce end-to-end video—concepting, scripting, shooting, editing, motion graphics, and finishing—maintaining a consistently high creative bar.
· Coordinate production across the studio, running the pipeline from intake through delivery and helping the team move with newsroom-paced speed against the editorial calendar and in real time as moments emerge.
· Craft platform-native video, from short-form social and vertical formats to long-form, executive, and event content, optimized for each channel and audience.
· Partner with the masterbrand team to carry Lilly’s visual identity into motion, ensuring video output is cohesive, recognizable, and evolves how the brand shows up on screen.
· Provide creative direction and guidance to video producers, project teams, and contract creatives, raising the craft and consistency of the work without direct line management.
· Help build and steward a network of contract videographers, editors, and motion talent, including sourcing, scoping, directing, and quality-checking external work to scale production as needed.
· Partner with content, design, and channel teams to bring integrated stories to life with video that is audience-centric and optimized for impact.
· Bring emerging production techniques and generative AI video tools expanding what’s possible and accelerating production without compromising craft or brand safety.
· Build accessibility and brand-safe practices into every output—accounting for captioning, audio description, color contrast, motion sensitivity, IP-cleared footage and music, and talent/likeness rights—so video work meets enterprise standards by design, not by exception.
· Collaborate with Thread Collective, Lilly’s in-house agency, on production and creative execution, optimizing shared resources and expertise.
· Help manage video assets, footage libraries, production files, and templates, ensuring quality, organization, and easy reuse across teams.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Video, Digital Media, Communications, or a related creative field.
• 7+ years of experience in video production and direction, within a corporate, agency, or in-house creative environment.
• Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.
Additional Skills/Preferences
· Experience operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment—such as a newsroom, a regulated or healthcare organization, or a high-profile consumer brand—where speed, judgment, and craft are paramount.
· Outstanding reel demonstrating directing and editing craft across short-form, social, and long-form video, with a focus on storytelling.
· Command of industry-standard video production and post-production tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects); fluency with DaVinci Resolve, motion/3D tools (e.g., Cinema 4D, Blender), or social-native production tools (e.g., CapCut) is a plus.
· Hands-on fluency with generative AI tools for video and motion (e.g., Runway, Sora, Adobe Firefly, ElevenLabs) for ideation, pre-visualization, and asset generation—with a clear point of view on where they fit in a brand-safe workflow.
· Working knowledge of accessibility standards (captioning, audio description, color contrast, motion sensitivity) and brand-safe video practices, including IP-cleared footage and music, and talent/likeness considerations.
· Hands-on capability across the full production process—pre-production, shooting, lighting and audio, editing, and motion.
· Experience overseeing production workflows and pipelines, including running schedules, intake, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
· Validated ability to direct and produce video in partnership with a masterbrand and visual identity.
· Experience directing and quality-checking the work of other producers and external partners.
· Experience working across global, multi-market teams and an understanding of how regional context and culture shape creative.
· Tight-knit collaboration skills to partner across creative, content, and channel teams in a fast-paced environment.
· Video Craft & Vision: Exceptional director and editor with a strong storytelling instinct and an eye for detail that elevates everything Global Communications produces.
· Production Leadership: Runs a video production pipeline with newsroom-paced speed and studio-grade craft, balancing real-time work with planned campaigns.
· Brand Stewardship: Deep understanding of how to bring a brand and visual identity to life in motion, in partnership with the masterbrand team.
· Creative Leadership: Sets direction and raises the craft of producers and partners through creative direction and influence, not hierarchy.
· Innovation & Collaboration: Brings new production techniques and tools into the studio and partners seamlessly across content, design, and channel teams.
· Global Perspective: Brings a global perspective to creative, with the cultural proficiency and awareness to shape video that resonates across markets and partner effectively with teams worldwide.
