What You Will Do:
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for the data architecture and management framework for the robotic platform. This role will lead the definition and implementation of data architectures supporting clinical applications, modular utility tools and platform services across R&D, service, clinical, and insight intra-operative and post-operative use cases. The role will lead the development of data logging capabilities enabling consistent, traceable, secure, and interoperable collection and management of data across the machine, utility, and clinical domains.
- Lead the research, design, development, and evaluation of complex robotic and medical device systems, including platform data architecture and data management capabilities.
- Translate clinical, customer, regulatory, and business needs into system requirements, architecture decisions, and implementation roadmaps.
- Define and maintain system and data architecture artifacts, including requirements models, interface definitions, data flows, and test architectures.
- Drive requirements decomposition, system modeling, and cross-functional integration across software, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.
- Lead system verification, validation, and analytical activities, including trade studies, performance assessments, optimization studies, and risk analyses.
- Establish governance for data structures, interfaces, security, interoperability, and lifecycle management across platform and clinical data domains.
- Guide resolution of complex design challenges, facilitate architecture reviews, and support product development through release in compliance with medical device regulations and standards.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to technology strategy and innovation, and partner with customers and cross-functional stakeholders to advance product and platform capabilities.
What You Will Need:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Biomedical Engineering & 6+ years of work experience
- Experience in developing and optimizing complex systems
- Experience leading cross-functional architecture decisions across systems and software domains.
- Experience with real-time and event-driven data flows.
- Ability to translate clinical, service, R&D, regulatory, and business use cases into system-level data needs, architecture decisions, requirements, and implementation roadmaps.
- Demonstrated experience defining data architectures, data products, information models, schemas, metadata, interfaces, and lifecycle strategies for complex system-of-systems products.
- Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulated-data practices, including PII/PHI classification, labeling, retention, access, and secure transfer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Requirements Management Tools and System Modeling Tools
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 and ISO 14971.
