Job Summary:   Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC) seeks an experienced fundraising professional to serve as our first Development and Events Manager. This is an exciting time to join our organization, as Chinatown CDC will celebrate 50 years of people-driven community development in 2027. We are ready to grow the team and take on more ambitious development and communications efforts in our next decade, beginning with a 50th anniversary campaign.

Status:   Full-time, Nonexempt, Regular
Location:  Chinatown neighborhood, San Francisco
Hours:  Hybrid eligible.  Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Occasional nights and weekend events.
Salary:  $30.00-$32.00 per hour ; Comprehensive benefits

The Organization :   A private non-profit founded in 1977, Chinatown Community Development Center believes in a comprehensive vision of community. We own and/or manage approximately 36 affordable housing buildings serving over 4,500 low-income seniors, single adults, formerly homeless adults, and families of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in San Francisco’s Chinatown, Tenderloin, Western Addition, and Polk Gulch neighborhoods. We also build housing, develop grassroots leadership, and engage low-income residents and youth. Primary Responsibilities

The Development and Events Associate is responsible for providing administrative support and participating in fundraising, communications and marketing activities in a fast-paced and growing department, helping implement annual fundraising and communications activities, and supporting the 50th anniversary campaign.

Essential Functions
Administrative Support

- Provide executive support to the Vice President of Development and Communications
- Manage a list of weekly priorities
- Assist with scheduling, logistics and reminders for internal and external meetings
- Proactively prepare agendas, PPT presentations and materials for meetings
- Take, share and store meeting minutes and coordinate follow up tasks
- Maintain up-to-date records and documents
- Organize department files, information and materials
- Enter data into Salesforce and Excel
- Collaborate and coordinate with other departments
- Track expenses and assist with expense reports
- Manage special projects as requested

Fundraising, Marketing and Communications

- Enter gifts and data into Salesforce, run reports and assist with data analysis, and maintain up-to-date fundraising dashboards, as requested
- Assist the team with creating and distributing fundraising appeals, including email, mail and social media
- Assist with corporate sponsorships, to ensure sponsors are provided with accurate information and benefits and tracked and acknowledged in a timely manner
- Attend meetings with donors and participate in donor research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
- Assist with marketing and communications activities when needed, such as posting content online, conducting research, contacting and managing vendors, and ordering swag

Events

- Assist with events related to fundraising and communications
- Research vendors and venues, tracking and analyzing information collected
- Provide hands-on support at events, including set up and break down
- Provide hands-on administrative support in the planning and execution of events

Serve as an ambassador for the department and organization

- Develop a strong understanding of Chinatown CDC’s programs, mission, history and community impact.
- Serve as an ambassador and storyteller for Chinatown CDC, enhancing the organization’s brand, strengthening relationships and attracting supporters to the organization.
- Collaborate with team members and colleagues in other departments to promote a culture of philanthropy.
- Provide warm, professional, and timely customer service to donors, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Development and Communications and team members on department-wide initiatives and special projects as assigned.

What You Bring 
- Demonstrated interested in fundraising.
- Strong commitment to nonprofit social change work.
- Collaborative team player who is eager to learn and build strong relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience writing content for donors for print, online and social media.
Education and Experience ( Minimum Qualifications) :
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum of 1 year of administrative, fundraising or project management experience in a nonprofit environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Chinatown Community Development Center, San Francisco Chinatown or other low-income communities
- Strong verbal communication skills, with Mandarin or Cantonese language skills a plus.
- Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with donor management databases, such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.
- Additional technical skills (such as AI tools, Adobe InDesign, Canva) a plus.
