About this role

Job Purpose

In addition to Machine Operator I tasks, responsible for performing more complex production-related packaging and labeling tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Operates a wide range of more complex equipment, which includes, but not limited to: All Fill 205/305A Piston Filler, AST 5/55 Gallon Pump, AST Twin Piston Filler, Freeman, Minister, Notron Piston Inserter, Preco, Standard Mark Andy, Standard Pace, Sulzer Piston Inserter, and/or Tridak Piston Inserter. May guide the work of junior staff.

Essential Job Responsibilities

- Works in production/assembly-line manufacturing environment to meet customer requirements as documented on more complex work specifications (i.e. Job Travelers, Work Instructions, and/or Customer drawings).

- Creates and maintains work specifications; and measures First Piece to validate machine set up with the assistance of the QA department and First Article Inspection Report Requirements (Internal/External); produces required quantity of parts within specified tolerances.

- Participates in the contract review process by ensuring/verifying part numbers, revision levels, and other related information matches work orders, work instructions, customer drawings; brings inconsistencies to the attention of the manager.

- Evaluates and enhances work specifications as documented, and other related information provided in the work specification(s).

- Reads and understands more-complex work specifications with emphasis on material callouts, packaging and labeling requirements, and dimensions and associated tolerances.

- Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment.

- Responsible for the safe handling of various materials, products, and inventory.

- Responsible for proper labeling of materials to ensure lot traceability and shelf life tracking.

- Maintains proper paperwork on work orders handled and quantities produced.

- Measures parts produced to determine if parts are within customer tolerances.

- Takes proper care of all equipment; completes daily log checks and entries.

- Maintains training skills on safe machine operations including safety guards.

- Follows all safety rules regarding machine operations, work dress/attire, and proper guarding.

Education & Experience

- High School Diploma or GED preferred

- Three (3) years manufacturing, machine operation, and/or assembly line experience

Core Competencies

- Strong understanding and visualization of the work specifications

- Able to conceptualize the manufacturing process

- Intermediate understanding of machine parts (what it is, and what a good/bad one looks like)

- Understands pinch points and areas of safety focus during opening/ending of machine operations

- Able to recognize and correct general machine-related problems

- Able to identify non-conforming material(s)

- Able to recognize and utilize machine settings to increase accuracy, speed, and yield

- Good reading, writing and comprehension of English language

- Able to perform basic math functions such as add, subtract, multiply and divide, including fractions and decimals.

- Visual acuity (including corrective vision) to read instructions, operate machinery, and visually inspect parts produced

- Able to set-up each machine

- Working knowledge of general accident prevention practices

- Solid understanding and comprehension of the slitting and/or filling process

- Resourceful, dedicated, and inquisitive

- Attention to detail, and quality and safety conscious

- High level of urgency

- Must be reliable, dependable, punctual, and conscientious about production performance

- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, previous employment verification, federal and county criminal background check

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

- Certified Fork Lift Operator preferred

- All applicable certifications

Physical Demands

- Manual dexterity to apply labels, close containers, fill & seal bags, pack boxes, and operate machines properly

- Able to perform steady work involving frequent stooping and bending

- Able to lift and carry 30 lbs frequently

- Subject to pre-employment drug testing, criminal background, and VOE checks

- Required to wear proper safety equipment while handling hazardous materials in the work environment
