Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and highly skilled Network Engineer who enjoys both traditional enterprise networking and hands-on industrial infrastructure work. This individual is comfortable collaborating with manufacturing teams, supporting production-critical systems, managing technical projects, and helping deliver network solutions that enable SEL's continued manufacturing growth .

As a Network Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

- Design, implement, and support Operational Technology (OT) networking solutions within manufacturing environments.
- Deploy and maintain Software Defined Networking (SDN) infrastructure supporting industrial control systems and production equipment.
- Partner with manufacturing, facilities, and engineering teams to support factory expansion projects and production initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate network infrastructure requirements including switches, cabinets, racks, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDUs), fiber systems, and structured cabling.
- Assist with commissioning new manufacturing lines, equipment integrations, and facility build-outs.
- Apply cybersecurity principles and segmentation strategies to protect manufacturing and industrial networks.

- You have a bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience in an IT environment
- You have 2+ years of related experience in a technical environment
- You have knowledge of IT methods, practices, procedures, and policies
- You have a desire for life-long learning to maintain a comprehensive understanding of evolving technologies
- You have experience teaching and mentoring IT interns and associates
- You embrace dynamic, fast-paced environments, and adapt well to rapid change
- You can participate in after hours on call rotation
- You practice absolute confidentiality and unquestionable ethics
- You have excellent customer service commitment

Preferred Qualifications

- Technical background and knowledge of manufacturing and/or engineering processes
- Ability to meet Motor Vehicle Report Qualification Standards of SEL
- Experience using programming languages and script writing

Physical Requirements

- Ability to use a ladder and/or scissor lift
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs

Pay Range Data

Network Engineer, $81,300 - $122,000. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Our ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
