THE OPPORTUNITY
Margaritaville Resort Orlando is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Purchasing to lead procurement operations across a growing hospitality portfolio that includes resorts, vacation homes, food and beverage operations, and corporate facilities. This role serves as the organization's procurement leader, responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing vendor partnerships, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services that support operational excellence.
The Director of Purchasing partners closely with Operations, Finance, Accounting, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Executive Leadership to ensure purchasing decisions align with the propertiy's objectives, budget expectations, and service standards. This leader will help shape procurement strategy, build scalable processes, and create long-term value through strong vendor relationships and disciplined purchasing practices.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Leadership
- Develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies that maximize company resources while supporting operational goals.
- Identify market trends, sourcing opportunities, and emerging supplier partnerships that create long-term value.
- Establish procurement standards that drive consistency, efficiency, and compliance across the organization.
Purchasing Operations
- Oversee daily Purchasing, Shipping, and Receiving operations.
- Manage procurement activities for equipment, FF&E, inventory items, maintenance materials, housekeeping supplies, operational products, and special projects.
- Review and approve department requisitions to ensure appropriate justification, authorization, and budget alignment.
- Ensure all purchases are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Financial Stewardship & Compliance
- Maintain accountability for purchasing budgets and procurement-related expenditures.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to ensure seamless integration of purchasing, invoicing, and payment processes.
- Develop procedures that support timely payment processing and accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor procurement performance and provide leadership with operational and financial reporting insights.
Inventory & Project Support
- Collaborate with Inventory Control to maintain accurate inventories of linens, housewares, and operational supplies.
- Support Engineering, Housekeeping, and Operations teams with project planning, estimating, and vendor pricing.
Team Development & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Lead, develop, and coach purchasing team members while creating a culture of accountability and service.
- Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing-related standard operating procedures.
- Partner with departmental leaders to identify procurement opportunities and operational efficiencies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Leadership on purchasing strategy, vendor management, and cost-control initiatives.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials management leadership experience.
- Proven experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships in a multi-department or multi-property environment.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, analyze purchasing trends, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Demonstrated success leading purchasing operations while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Experience working collaboratively with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Housekeeping teams.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and procurement-related technology platforms.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Hospitality, resort, hotel, vacation rental, or multi-unit operational experience.
- Professional procurement certifications such as CPSM, CPPB, CSCP, or related credentials.
- Experience managing FF&E procurement for renovations, capital projects, or new developments.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement analytics tools.
- Experience supporting rapid organizational growth or multi-property portfolios.
