In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Facility Manager to lead the operations of our Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments and ensure the ongoing safety, functionality, and appearance of our long-term care home.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Facility Manager is responsible for the leadership, planning, administration, and operational performance of facility services, including housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, building systems, and environmental safety. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, standards, and organizational policies while supporting a resident-centred environment.
This role also plays a key leadership function in facility improvement projects, including both major and minor renovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations to maintain a safe, sanitary, attractive, and compliant environment.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular interior and exterior building inspections.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, building standards, fire and life safety requirements, and organizational policies.
- Lead departmental staffing activities, including recruitment, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and staff development.
- Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, expenditures, inventory, and resource utilization.
- Participate in quality improvement, risk management, resident safety, and workplace health and safety initiatives.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, including those related to fire safety, emergency preparedness, infection prevention and control, and occupational health and safety.
- Research, negotiate, and manage contracts for equipment, maintenance services, housekeeping, and laundry supplies.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, certifications, and documentation required by regulatory authorities.
- Participate in renovation and capital improvement projects, including reviewing construction drawings and coordinating project activities.
- Provide emergency response and on-call support for building maintenance, safety, and security matters.
- Participate as a member of the home's security response team.
- Attend and lead departmental and organizational meetings as required.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Hold a college-level "Building Environmental System Operator – Class II" certificate.
- Possess general maintenance and hands-on skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of Chinese languages is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office, facility, and on-site operational work.
- Standing, walking, lifting, bending, and physical activity as required.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions including heat, humidity, noise, and mechanical equipment.
- Participation in an on-call rotation and availability for 24-hour emergency response related to maintenance, safety, and security matters.
- Occasional travel between locations and external sites.
