Baptist Health is hiring a Physician Coder to join our Physician Billing Office team in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time day shift opportunity.

The Physician Billing Office supports accurate and compliant coding to ensure appropriate reimbursement for physician services across multiple specialties and places of service. The Physician Coder reviews clinical documentation and applies the appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with established coding guidelines and state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in physician coding, evaluation and management (E/M) coding, and outpatient procedures, along with a strong understanding of coding compliance.

Physician Coder Job Responsibilities:

- Review clinical documentation and accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT-4 procedure codes.
- Perform evaluation and management (E/M) coding across applicable places of service.
- Code minor office procedures, specialty-specific testing, outpatient procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with established coding guidelines and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Review medical records to support appropriate code assignment and accurate physician billing.
- Identify and resolve coding discrepancies or documentation issues in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and specialty-specific coding practices.

Physician Coder Experience:

- 1–2 years of Clinical Documentation experience (Required)
- 1–2 years of Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding experience (Required)
- 1–2 years of physician coding experience, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS — (Required)
- 1–2 years of outpatient procedural coding experience (Required)
- 1–2 years of minor outpatient and office procedure coding experience (Required)

Physician Coder Education & Credential Requirements:

- High School Diploma (Required)
- Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) ( Preferred)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P) (Required)

Following established coding guidelines and working in accordance to state and federal regulatory guidance, this person is responsible for correctly identifying and applying ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and CPT-4 codes for E/M across all places of service, minor office and specialty-specific testing/procedures, and minor surgeries.

*CPC or equivalent required. Specialty certification preferred
