You will collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and senior project leaders to define requirements, evaluate planning alternatives, and create foundational programming deliverables.
This position is a hybrid role based in either the Bay Area or Seattle, WA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the development of facility planning, programming, and pre design deliverables for technical laboratory and specialized facility projects, collaborating with clients, user groups, and subject matter experts to gather project requirements, operational needs, and planning objectives.
- Participate in stakeholder interviews, workshops, site assessments, and planning sessions.
- Develop and document space programs, operational requirements, infrastructure considerations, and project constraints.
- Prepare project documentation, including presentations, reports, planning narratives, meeting minutes, and executive client deliverables.
- Analyze existing facilities, technical infrastructure, operational workflows, and space utilization to inform planning recommendations.
- Organize and maintain project documentation, action-item logs, decision logs, and planning records.
- Support the development of high-level project scopes, budgets, schedules, and implementation strategies.
- Conduct research and quantitative analysis to evaluate planning alternatives and support decision-making.
- Participate in client meetings and effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and client stakeholders throughout the planning process.
- Support the preparation of consultant scopes, RFQs, and other planning-related procurement documentation as required.
- Travel occasionally to client sites as required.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Demonstrated understanding of building systems, facility infrastructure, laboratory environments, or technical building design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with design software including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, BIM tools, or similar technical software.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools.
- Experience preparing technical reports, programming documents, feasibility studies, or facility assessments is preferred.
- Interested in the planning and development of complex technical facilities, including laboratories, research environments, and other specialized building types.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear planning recommendations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Education: BS in Construction Management, Engineering, QS, Architecture, or related field
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in Architecture, engineering, facility planning or design consulting

The salary range for this full-time role is $111,400.00-$148,533.35 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
