The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Manager, Freight Audit Services to help build and run our client-facing freight audit service. You’ll help clients check freight charges, resolve billing discrepancies, and understand their transportation costs.

The service will focus on freight invoices. You’ll build the operating processes, onboard clients, oversee audits, and hire a team as demand grows. You’ll also work with Product, Engineering, and commercial teams to improve the service and its economics.

This role suits someone who likes building from the ground up, works carefully with data, and earns clients’ trust. You’ll be expected to use AI and automation yourself and help the team put them to work.

You Will

- Help launch the service and establish procedures, quality checks, service standards, ownership, and escalation paths.

- Lead client onboarding: gather contracts, invoices, shipment data, and authorizations, then confirm the audit scope and readiness to begin.

- Run daily audit delivery, checking invoices against contracted rates, terms, and shipment records and investigating discrepancies.

- Manage carrier disputes and billing corrections. Keep supporting evidence, follow issues through resolution, and distinguish potential savings from confirmed client value.

- Be the operational point of contact for clients. Explain findings, resolve escalations, and lead service reviews with clear reporting.

- Hire, train, and develop the team as demand grows. Match staffing and workloads to client needs, quality standards, and cost to serve.

- Work with Product and Engineering to define requirements and test improvements. Build and trial AI-assisted workflows for extracting invoice data, comparing charges with contracts, and investigating exceptions; verify accuracy before expanding their use.

- Support Sales and Account Management with discovery, service scoping, implementation planning, and input on pricing and proposals.

- Track onboarding time, audit turnaround, accuracy, dispute outcomes, client value, productivity, and profitability. Use those results to improve delivery.

Success in Your First Year

- Initial clients receive a reliable service with repeatable onboarding, audit, dispute, and reporting processes.

- Clients understand the findings, dispute outcomes, and financial value the service delivers.

- A well-trained team grows with demand while maintaining quality and manageable workloads.

- Client and audit feedback leads to better product capabilities and service, with measurable gains from AI, automation, and lower cost to serve.

You Should Have

- A record of strong results in operations, logistics, financial operations, client delivery, consulting, or a related field.

- The ability to make progress on an unfamiliar problem, exercise judgment with incomplete information, and finish what you start.

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You can reconcile data in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools and investigate discrepancies.

- Clear client communication and the judgment to handle sensitive issues, explain findings, and set realistic expectations.

- Leadership experience in managing people, developing colleagues, or leading cross-team projects.

- The ability to quickly learn freight contracts, billing practices, and audit procedures, and to work with Product and Engineering to improve them.

- Hands-on experience using generative AI to analyze information or improve a recurring workflow. You can explain what you built, how you tested it, and what improved.

- Sound judgment about AI: you check results against source data, recognize unreliable outputs, protect confidential information, and know when human review is needed.

Experience in freight auditing, ocean logistics, service launches, or client implementations is helpful. We welcome strong candidates from adjacent fields who can demonstrate the ability to learn, ownership, and judgment this role requires.
