Job Description Summary:
The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance operations with a strong focus on equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

This role leads maintenance personnel and partners with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and other departments to maximize equipment availability, minimize unplanned downtime, improve OEE, and ensure reliable operation of production and facility assets.

The Senior Maintenance Supervisor will drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a planned, preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance culture while overseeing maintenance planning, CMMS utilization, reliability initiatives, maintenance budgets, contractors, and capital projects.

The pay range for this position is expected to be $130k-$170k annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Description:

Maintenance & Reliability

• Lead daily maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment and facility systems.

• Develop and maintain reliability-based maintenance strategies using preventive, predictive, condition-based, and planned maintenance.

• Establish equipment priorities based on criticality, safety, quality, production requirements, and business risk.

• Monitor equipment performance and identify chronic failures and opportunities for reliability improvement.

• Develop equipment criticality assessments and appropriate maintenance strategies.

• Partner with Operations to implement TPM and autonomous maintenance practices.

• Ensure effective shift handoffs and communication of equipment conditions, open work, and reliability risks.

TPM, Lean & Continuous Improvement

• Lead implementation of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standardized work, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support improvement of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by reducing downtime, speed losses, and quality-related equipment losses.

• Utilize the Six Big Losses methodology to identify and eliminate equipment-related losses.

• Lead or participate in RCA, 5-Why, FMEA, Kaizen, and other structured problem-solving activities.

• Develop and implement permanent corrective actions for recurring equipment failures

CMMS & Maintenance Planning

• Ensure accurate and effective use of the CMMS for work orders, PMs, equipment history, labor, parts, and downtime tracking.

• Partner with the Maintenance Planner to maintain an effective planned work schedule and backlog.

• Monitor PM compliance, schedule compliance, planned versus unplanned work, backlog, and emergency maintenance.

• Utilize CMMS data to identify failure trends, cost drivers, and reliability improvement opportunities.

• Ensure quality documentation of completed maintenance work and equipment history.

Budget & Cost Management

• Develop, manage, and monitor the maintenance department's annual operating budget.

• Monitor labor, parts, contractors, repairs, and other maintenance-related expenditures.

• Analyze budget variances and implement corrective actions when necessary.

• Identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining safety, quality, and equipment reliability.

• Develop business justifications and cost-benefit analyses for major repairs, equipment upgrades, and reliability improvements

Capital Projects

• Lead and/or provide maintenance oversight for capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, and major repairs.

• Participate in project scope development, budgeting, scheduling, equipment selection, and contractor management.

• Ensure Maintenance is involved in equipment selection to address reliability, maintainability, safety, utilities, spare parts, and lifecycle costs.

• Support FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, startup, and equipment acceptance activities.

• Ensure new equipment is properly incorporated into the CMMS with PMs, spare parts, manuals, drawings, and maintenance procedures.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, develop, and hold maintenance personnel accountable for safety, quality, reliability, and performance.

• Assign daily work and ensure employees have the tools, parts, information, and resources necessary to safely complete assigned work.

• Develop technical training and cross-training programs for maintenance personnel.

• Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

• Ensure maintenance activities comply with food safety, GMP, food security, environmental, electrical, and mechanical requirements.

• Ensure proper LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, and other applicable safety procedures.

• Support investigations and corrective actions related to safety, quality, environmental, and equipment failures.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, develop, and hold maintenance personnel accountable for safety, quality, reliability, and performance.

• Assign daily work and ensure employees have the tools, parts, information, and resources necessary to safely complete assigned work.

• Develop technical training and cross-training programs for maintenance personnel.
