Overview

The Area Culinary Specialist supports culinary operations across multiple Brightview communities in MA, CT and NY by working closely with the Culinary Leadership team, Executive Chefs, Cooks and Front of House teams. This role ensures that residents consistently receive high-quality culinary experiences through the coordination of food preparation, service standards, and adherence to food safety and cleanliness protocols. The Area Culinary Specialist also contributes to operational efficiency by assisting with process improvements and supporting day-to-day culinary functions. We are looking for someone who currently lives in Massachusetts and is able to travel to the assigned communities during the week as needed.

Responsibilities

- Bring consistent leadership, accountability, and encouragement by supporting Executive Chefs and Cooks in food preparation, presentation, and service.

- Ensure compliance with food safety and handling guidelines, conducting regular internal audits, and recommending improvements.

- Collaborate with culinary teams to develop menu plans that cater to residents' nutritional needs and preferences.

- Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper food handling procedures, cooking techniques, and customer service

- Train, support, and mentor Front of House roles, Dining Room Manager and Servers as needed.

- Manage food inventory across locations, implementing efficient ordering and stock rotation practices.

- Coordinate with local health authorities for inspections and maintain high ratings.

- Implement systems & processes based on Brightview best practices and operating procedures.

- Gather feedback from residents and staff to continuously improve culinary services. Share this information with the Culinary Leadership team, and Community Executive Director.

- Support special events and themed meals across communities.

- Assist in New Community Openings as assigned by Culinary Leadership.

## Salary Range
$37.25/hr - $42.75/jr

The salary range mentioned above reflects the potential pay for this role and does not include bonuses or additional incentives (if applicable), nor does it include the value of our benefit program. Offers will consider factors like experience, qualifications, location, community size (if relevant), certifications/training, etc. Brightview regularly reviews and adjusts compensation ranges.

Qualifications

Required

- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques.

- Comprehensive understanding of food safety and handling guidelines.

- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet based applications.

- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to connect and communicate effectively with individuals with a wide variety of experiences, backgrounds, and skill levels.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time while based in a Community Setting.

- Proven leadership and team management abilities.

Preferred

- Experience in senior living or healthcare food service.

- Culinary degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP).

- Knowledge of nutritional requirements for seniors. Modified and mechanically altered diets. (IDDSI)

- Proficient understanding of kitchen equipment upkeep and preventative maintenance.

- Experience in menu planning and development.

- Proficiency in using food service management software (Grove Menus) and online ordering platforms.

- Knowledge of scheduling software, (Inovalon) labor control and staffing models to budget.
