We are currently hiring a Telehandler/Forklift Operator for a structural steel fabrication environment in Cocoa Beach, FL. This is a full-time, first-shift opportunity offering consistent hours and competitive starting pay.
Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for handling and moving structural steel materials within a fabrication yard using powered equipment. You’ll support daily operations by ensuring materials are properly staged, organized, and ready for production or shipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate telehandlers and forklifts to move, stage, and load/unload I-beams, columns, plates, and fabricated steel components.
- Organize yard inventory and stage materials for production, shipping, and erection schedules.
- Read shop drawings, pick lists, and material tags to identify steel components accurately.
- Load trucks, secure materials, and coordinate with drivers and shop personnel.
- Complete routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance; report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Follow OSHA safety standards, company procedures, and proper rigging and material-handling practices.
Requirements
- Experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment in a steel yard or construction setting.
- Ability to handle large structural steel members safely.
- Basic ability to read blueprints or material tags preferred.
- Knowledge of rigging, load balancing, and safe material handling.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
