About this role

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Manager/Senior Manager, Business Controls and Monitoring (12-Month Max-Term Contract)

What’s the role?

As Manager/Senior Manager, Business Controls and Monitoring, you’ll help Customer and Business Assist manage risk in a practical and considered way. You’ll work closely with leaders and teams to understand potential risks, strengthen controls and support decisions that deliver positive outcomes for customers and the business.

You’ll provide clear advice across risk issues, incidents, remediation activities and regulatory obligations. You’ll also help teams assess the impact of business and transformation initiatives, ensuring risks are understood and appropriately managed as changes are introduced.

Through strong partnerships across the business, you’ll simplify complex risk matters, prepare meaningful insights for senior leaders and governance forums, and help embed effective risk practices into everyday operations. You’ll play an important role in building a strong risk culture where people feel confident identifying concerns, making informed decisions and continually improving how controls operate.

This is a 12-month max-term contract (parental leave cover) based in Bedford Park in Adelaide or Sydney , with flexible working arrangements available.

What do I need?

You’ll bring practical risk expertise, sound judgement and previous experience building trusted relationships across a complex organisation.

- Experience within a risk management role in either Line 1 or Line 2 Risk, ideally within banking or financial services.

- Confidence advising on risk management, incidents, controls, issues, remediation and regulatory obligations in a way that's clear and actionable.

- Demonstrated experience providing timely risk insights and reporting to senior leadership.

- Experience supporting change initiatives by identifying and mitigating associated risk.

- The ability to drive continuous improvement and lean thinking across risk practices.

- The ability to build trust and influence leadership on risk and compliance matters, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
