Senior AI Engineer – Agentic AI Platform

Join Johnson Controls to help build an enterprise Agentic AI Platform that enables intelligent AI agents to automate and enhance business workflows across the organization.

You will design, build, and scale AI-powered solutions that combine reasoning, knowledge retrieval, and enterprise system integration while helping to define standards and best practices for AI engineering, governance, and platform development.

How You Will Do It

- Design and deploy AI agents and agentic workflows that solve real business problems.
- Build RAG and knowledge retrieval solutions using enterprise data sources.
- Integrate AI solutions with APIs, business applications, and data platforms.
- Establish standards for AI evaluation, monitoring, security, and governance.
- Optimize AI solutions for quality, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with engineers, data teams, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members.

Required Capabilities & Skills

AI Solution Design

- Ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions.

- Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

- Experience designing and deploying AI or machine learning solutions in production environments.

Generative AI & Agentic Systems

- Experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications.
- Hands-on experience with RAG, prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and agentic workflows.
- Ability to evaluate and improve AI system performance and reliability.

Software & Data Engineering

- Strong Python development skills.
- Strong SQL and data management skills.
- Experience integrating AI solutions with APIs, enterprise systems, and cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Business & Leadership

- Ability to communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, and work effectively in fast-changing environments.

Preferred Skills

- Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure AI Search.
- Experience with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar technologies.
- Vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-based architectures.
- MLOps, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and AI governance.
- Experience building reusable AI platforms or enterprise-scale AI solutions.

Transferable Backgrounds

We welcome candidates with backgrounds in AI engineering, generative AI engineering, applied AI, machine learning engineering, AI platform engineering, software engineering, solution architecture, MLOps engineering, data science, or cloud engineering. Candidates should be able to demonstrate hands-on experience in building and deploying AI or machine learning solutions in production environments.

Our salary and benefits

The initial basic salary for this position will range from €2,700 to €4,215 per month, plus a 13th-month salary after your first six months in the role. The final package will reflect your experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the position. We are committed to fair, equitable, and gender-neutral pay practices.
