About this role
We are a Site Intelligence company transforming how industrial businesses operate. Our platform turns your existing infrastructure into a source of actionable operational intelligence, enabling teams to see what's happening, understand why, and improve continuously. By surfacing the operational signals that reports miss, we help the world's largest logistics, manufacturing, and warehousing operators stay one step ahead, making operations visible and driving proactive safety. We're a fast-growing, high-agency team building category-defining products by leveraging the latest technologies in computer vision and AI.
Industry leaders like DHL, Amazon, and Tesla trust Protex AI to drive measurable safety improvements, achieving an average 64% risk reduction within just three months of deployment. Operating in 20+ countries, Protex is the go-to safety partner for Fortune 500 manufacturing and logistics enterprises, transforming workplace safety with real-time, AI-powered insights.
Role Overview
As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with some of Protex AI’s most strategic global enterprise customers, partnering closely with our Tech and Commercial teams to design and deliver high-impact computer vision solutions. You’ll go far beyond standard implementation, helping shape product direction for greenfield features, and ensuring Protex AI delivers high-impact safety outcomes in complex, real-world industrial and logistics environments.
We are looking for builders who take pride in turning messy, ambiguous technical problems into reliable products. In this role, your engineering decisions won't just sit in a repository—they will directly safeguard human lives on factory floors around the world.
What will I be doing?
- Hands-on Technical Leadership: Work side-by-side with customer technical teams as a trusted expert—coding integrations, configuring edge video pipelines, and driving deployments through to completion.
- Drive Enterprise Adoption: Enable strategic prospects and customers to unlock the power of Protex AI’s computer vision capabilities to automate hazard detection and transform operations across global facilities.
- Embed with Strategic Accounts: Partner deeply with customer leadership—from plant managers to corporate EHS and IT directors—to understand complex operational environments and architect solutions that deliver measurable risk reduction.
- Bridge GTM and Product: Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless delivery, turn edge-case customer requirements into productized capabilities.
- Build and Scale the Function: Help establish best practices, reusable integration frameworks, and internal tools to codify knowledge and scale the Forward Deployed Engineering function as Protex AI expands globally.
What skills do I need?
- Degree or background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building or deploying SaaS platforms or edge systems with real-world enterprise usage. (Bonus points for former founders, early-stage startup engineers, or technical consultants).
- Strong interest in computer vision and edge AI. You quickly build deep technical intuition for novel architectures (e.g., video streaming pipelines, object detection models), including their trade-offs and real-world edge limits.
- Deep knowledge of at least one core language (e.g., Python, Go, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript). We value engineering velocity and adaptability over mastery of a specific tool stack.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code quickly to solve client-specific edge cases while keeping a high standard for security, performance, and clear business outcomes.
- Proficient in consuming and building APIs and handling event-driven webhooks to seamlessly integrate Protex AI with enterprise ecosystems (e.g., SAP, EHS platforms, communication tools).
- Excellent communicator who can comfortably move between technical deep-dives with network engineers and strategic discussions with executive leadership, adjusting depth on the fly.
- Willingness to travel periodically to customer manufacturing sites, warehouses, and industrial facilities to build relationships, audit video topologies, and deeply understand physical safety workflows on the ground.
What We Offer
- High Impact & True Ownership: Directly build technology that proactively prevents workplace injuries and protects workers across the world.
- Competitive Equity & Compensation: Attractive base salary alongside meaningful early-stage equity options.
- Collaborative & Fast-Paced Culture: Hybrid flexibility centered around our Dublin HQ, working alongside world-class engineers, product leaders, and GTM teams.
- Global Exposure: Opportunity to travel and work on-site with enterprise clients across Europe and North America.
Protex AI is an inclusive and equal opportunities employer. We are committed to creating an equitable workplace for everyone regardless of gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, education level, or race.
