About this role
Job Description: Quality Technician The Quality Technician will perform precision inspection and quality assurance on metal parts used in aerospace and government contract applications. This role focuses on dimensional inspection, documentation, and quality control using tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, and a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The technician will support production by taking finished parts through the quality process, ensuring they meet all specifications, tolerances, and standards. Responsibilities
- Inspect a variety of metal parts using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.
- Perform visual inspections of parts to identify defects, nonconformities, or deviations from quality standards.
- Use a CMM machine to conduct detailed inspections; over time, learn to program the CMM to support advanced inspection needs.
- Take parts from production and run them through the full quality process, ensuring proper documentation, verification, and sign-off.
- Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly, maintaining clear records of measurements, findings, and any nonconformance reports (NCRs).
- Apply GD&T principles and blueprint interpretation to evaluate tolerances, dimensions, and geometric requirements.
- Support internal audits by providing inspection data, participating in audit activities, and helping ensure compliance with ISO and other quality standards.
- Assist with quality assurance activities related to PPAP, ISO standards, and other customer or regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report nonconforming products and work with relevant teams to address quality issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle general duties such as filing paperwork and organizing inspection documentation.
- Walk the manufacturing floor as needed to collect finished products for inspection and to collaborate with production personnel.
- Demonstrate a proactive, technical mindset by suggesting improvements to inspection processes and quality procedures.
Essential Skills

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or strong mathematical skills that support blueprint reading.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and a "math mind" for understanding dimensions and tolerances.
- Solid understanding of tolerances, dimensions, and how they relate to product quality and fit.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) using inspection instruments.
- Experience with internal auditing in a quality or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance practices, including visual inspection.
- Understanding of NCRs (Nonconformance Reports), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), audits, ISO standards, and general quality assurance processes.
- Technical mindset with the ability to learn and apply new inspection techniques, including CMM programming over time.
- Ability to work proactively, taking initiative to address quality issues and support continuous improvement.
- ITAR compliance, with the ability to work on projects subject to ITAR regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering is a plus.
- Experience working with aerospace parts or government-type contracts is beneficial.
- Familiarity with CMM operation and programming is an advantage, though training will be provided.
