About this role
Director — Growth & Partnerships, Perceptyne Robots
Hyderabad, India · Full-time · Customer-facing · Travel across India as needed
Open the Market for Intelligent Robots and Expand What Industry Can Automate
Most automation systems excel when the task is fixed, the environment is predictable, and the workpiece arrives exactly where it should.
But many of the most valuable industrial tasks remain difficult to automate, because they need dexterity: handling variable parts, assembling components, inserting connectors, manipulating flexible objects, working alongside people, and adapting when reality differs from the ideal process plan.
Perceptyne builds industrial humanoid robots that close this gap. Our robots combine dexterous manipulation, perception, AI, controls, and practical engineering to automate physical work across electronics and automotive assembly, logistics and packaging, industrial kitchens, research environments, and other real-world operations.
This is not conventional / catalogue-driven product sales. Many prospective customers will have established assumptions about what automation can and cannot do. Your job is to help them see a credible new possibility: understand their operational bottleneck, frame the right automation opportunity, demonstrate technical and commercial value, build internal champions, and convert early interest into pilots, deployments, and long-term customer relationships.
We are looking for a Director — Growth & Partnerships to lead this work under the leadership of Perceptyne’s founders. You will help define how Perceptyne goes to market, acquire strategic new customers, grow existing accounts, build ecosystem partnerships, and establish the commercial foundation for a category-defining robotics company.
What You’ll Actually Do
You will lead Perceptyne’s commercial growth across new customer acquisition, strategic accounts, partnerships, market development, and the evolution of our go-to-market approach. You will work closely with the founders and lead customer-facing commercial talent, including Technical Commercialization Leads.
- Partner with the founders to refine and execute Perceptyne’s GTM strategy: priority industries, ideal customer profiles, use-case focus, positioning, pricing inputs, sales motion, partnerships, and growth metrics.
- Build and own a high-quality pipeline of strategic customers across sectors such as automotive, electronics and EMS, semiconductors, logistics, e-commerce, food, research, defence, and other industrial automation markets.
- Lead complex enterprise opportunities end to end: account targeting, discovery, stakeholder mapping, technical and commercial qualification, solution development, proposal, negotiation, pilot closure, deployment conversion, and account expansion.
- Evangelize Perceptyne’s robotics and AI capabilities through customer conversations, factory visits, workshops, demonstrations, technical reviews, and executive presentations—helping customers identify workflows where intelligent robotics can create measurable value.
- Work with engineering, applications, product, and operations teams to turn customer pain points into credible use cases, solution concepts, pilot scopes, business cases, proposals, success criteria, and customer commitments.
- Grow strategic accounts through executive relationships, repeatable account planning, follow-on use-case discovery, pilot-to-deployment conversion, and multi-site expansion.
- Build partnerships with system integrators, automation companies, OEMs, technology providers, research institutions, and channel partners that increase Perceptyne’s market access, solution capability, or ability to scale.
- Design and lead focused demand-generation activities—including technology days, customer workshops, industry forums, factory demonstrations, roundtables, conferences, and partner events—that create qualified top-of-funnel opportunities.
- Maintain a disciplined commercial operating rhythm across CRM hygiene, pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, revenue metrics, account plans, customer feedback, market intelligence, and commercial-risk reporting.
- Coach and guide commercial team members while remaining personally involved in strategic customer relationships, key partnerships, and high-impact deals.
What We’re Looking For
- You are a hands-on commercial leader who combines market-creation ability with sales discipline. You are equally comfortable discussing a customer’s factory workflow with engineers, building an executive-level business case, and personally driving a complex deal toward closure.
- 7+ years of experience in business development, enterprise sales, partnerships, go-to-market, strategic accounts, or commercial leadership for complex B2B technology solutions.
- Demonstrated success winning and growing enterprise customers in industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing technology, machine vision, capital equipment, industrial software, engineering services, logistics technology, or comparable technical markets.
- Proven ability to lead long-cycle, multi-stakeholder opportunities from discovery and technical evaluation through proposal, negotiation, closure, implementation, and expansion.
- Strong technical curiosity and credibility with engineering and operations stakeholders; able to understand robotics, AI-enabled automation, industrial workflows, and practical implementation constraints without needing to be the technical specialist.
- A consultative and evangelizing sales approach: skilled at uncovering operational pain points, reframing what is possible, communicating complex technology simply, and converting interest into a practical next step.
- Experience shaping GTM strategy, target-account selection, account plans, partnerships, demand-generation programs, sales processes, and commercial metrics.
- Experience selling robotics, factory automation, special-purpose machines, intralogistics, material handling, industrial AI, machine vision, simulation, manufacturing software, or other complex hardware-plus-software solutions.
- Experience working with automotive OEMs and suppliers, EMS and electronics manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, warehouses, e-commerce operators, or Aero-Def customers.
- Existing relationships with senior industrial, manufacturing, automation, or operations leaders in India.
- Experience planning high-quality industry events, technology showcases, executive roundtables, customer innovation days, trade-show programs, or partner-led demand-generation campaigns.
- Excellent executive communication, relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong sales discipline and ownership: rigorous CRM use, realistic forecasting, structured qualification, reliable follow-up, clear next steps, and respect for customer and internal commitments.
- High grit, persistence, resourcefulness, and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving deep-tech startup.
- Ability to lead, coach, and raise the bar for junior commercial talent.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field; an MBA is helpful but not required.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India for customer visits, demonstrations, pilot reviews, industry events, and partnership development.
- Nice to Have
- Experience commercializing an emerging or category-creating technology where customers needed education before they could become buyers.
- Experience building a commercial function, hiring sales or partnerships talent and leading a team.
- Expertise with sales tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, or similar platforms.
How We Work
At Perceptyne, for this function, the customer workflow is the referee.
A commercial opportunity is valuable not just because it produces a polished presentation, an enthusiastic meeting, or a promising pipeline entry. It becomes a lot more valuable when we understand the real problem, establish a credible technical and commercial path, deliver what we commit to, and create measurable customer value.
We like to solve customer problems, build things, evangelize great ideas, and stay grounded. We hold a few deliberate tensions:
- A large technological vision, grounded in the realities of factory operations.
- Ambitious market creation, paired with practical customer commitments.
- Persistent relationship building, supported by disciplined sales execution.
- Fast commercial learning, connected closely to product and engineering reality.
We value grit and dedication. When a customer is skeptical, a use case is not yet fully defined, a technical evaluation takes longer than planned, or an internal stakeholder needs more confidence, you do not simply move on to the next lead. You learn what is blocking progress, bring the right people into the conversation, create a credible next step, and persist until there is either a real path forward or a clear reason to disengage.
You will thrive here if you enjoy opening new markets, earning trust with demanding industrial customers, shaping the commercial direction of a frontier-technology company, and turning advanced robotics into real business value.
